The next day I woke up to Michael shaking my shoulder. "Wake up!" He whispered. I got up out of bed and instinctively fastened my sheath around my thigh. "We're making breakfast for everyone. I saw that Valerie got more of those instant just add water things. I think she cleared out the whole store."
We both walked out of our tent. "I'll go get fire wood," I said. I started walking in the direction Mark went yesterday. Hopefully I won't run into any zombies. I didn't. I came back with five pieces of wood. I threw them into the pit and Michael lit it.
"Go get the pancake powder, water, and pan," Michael told me. I got them and came back over. I combined the powder and water, then I shook up the container to mix the two together. I handed the pan to Michael. "Ready?" He asked. I nodded my headed.
He put the pan over the fire. I poured in the first pancake of seven. One for each of us.
When it was about half way done Michael said, "Watch this." He gave the pan a slight shake and threw it up about half a foot in the air without letting go of the handle. The pancake landed back in the pan on the opposite side.
"Where did you learn that?" I asked.
"For my senior year one of my extra curriculums was cooking."
Michael made the other six pancakes. Then, Maggie came out of her tent. "Mmm...do I smell pancakes?" She said.
"Yep!" I said. "Can you get everyone else up?"
"Sure." Maggie woke everyone else up. Once everyone was seated around the fire Michael and I passed out the pancakes. Then we sat down. I was in between Mike and Maggie.
"Thanks for making breakfast," Mike said.
"You're Welcome," I said. We all continued to eat our breakfast. We would need the energy for later today.
