Will's POV
"Goodnight, Mark." I said as I got into the queen size bed. "I love you."
"Goodnight, I love you, too." Mark said. We gave each other a peck on the lips and we laid down to go to sleep. I turned so I was facing the window.
"I wonder if they're going to come tonight," I thought to myself. "They've been following Mark and my every move."
I heard a slight knocking on the glass of the window. I looked outside and saw just a tree branch banging against it. I tried to stay awake, I had to know. Sleep was inevitable. It came over me in the next few minutes.
When I awoke again there was a gag around my mouth. "I hope Mark's ok," I thought to myself. I tried to take a look at my surroundings. I couldn't, it was pitch black. The only thing I could figure out was that I was moving.
I tried to stand up, but I couldn't. My arms were bound behind my back and my legs were bound together. I sat for what felt what like hours until the vehicle I was in slammed to a stop. I flew against what must of been a wall at the back of a truck.
The doors opened at the other end. A man in a black ski mask came in, leaving one door open. I tried to get a look outside. It was still dark out. I couldn't tell anything besides that. The small light from outside lit the back of the truck. It was empty except for me, and now the man.
The man pulled something out of his pocket. I didn't figure out what it was until it was stabbing me in the neck. The man left the back of the truck and slammed the door shut. About a minute later the truck started moving again.
The darkness around me started to blur, if that was even possible. I started to sweat, it felt like my throat was closing. I didn't know what was going on, all I knew was the injection caused it. I laid down on the floor, unable to keep myself up. Finally, I fell into an unconscious state.Claudia's POV
"How many zombies are there?" I said as I stabbed another zombie in the head. We had only walked about a mile and we had to stop several times to kill the zombies in our path.
"More than enough!" I heard Shane yell.
We had to fend off most of the zombies, then run. I stabbed a few zombies that were in front of me as I sprinted as fast as I could.
We ran for what felt like hours, but we finally reached a point that seemed to be safe. I put my hands on my knees in an attempt to catch my breath.
"We're only three miles away," Angel said, looking at the map.
"Let's keep going," Madelyn said.
We continued walking, we only had to stop twice to kill zombies. "There it is!" I heard Kristen say. We ran the rest of the way.
"Everyone stick together," I said. "Shane, do you know where to go?"
"I know they're going to have kept it in a locked, quarantined area. I think I can find it." Shane replied.
"Lead they way," I said, stepping back so Shane could walk through the doors first.
"It'd be smart to stock up on medical supplies while we're here," Angel said to me. "Shane! What seems to be the hold up!"
"The door's locked," he responded.
"Step back," Madelyn said, she lifted her metal baseball bat. I saw the glass from the doors shatter as the bat contacted the door. "Let's go."
We all stepped through the door. "Be careful," Angel said. "Remember, we don't know what's in here."
Shane led us through the wings of the hospital. We only saw a few zombies, none of them in large groups. We finally reached a door that Shane stopped in front of. "It might me in here," he said. There was a fingerprint panel attached to the wall, powered down. Madelyn walked up and ripped it of the wall. She started to mess with the wires. Eventually we heard a lock click. Madelyn took a step over and she pulled the door open.
The room inside was very large. It contained shelves of syringes with different colored fluids inside. The most dominant thing in the room was the mass of at least a thousand zombies. They were all staring at us. Then, they started moving, faster then I expected. Definitely not at human speed, but still faster then the other zombies we've seen.
We all stood still for a few seconds, in shock, then we started to sprint away. Madelyn took the lead in getting us out. We had to jump over and dodge objects in our path. I was running when I felt something snag my foot. I fell to the ground with a hard smack. Angel looked at me and tried to help me up. When I fell I had landed on my ankle the wrong way, it was broken and I couldn't walk on it. I tried to walk, but my broken ankle collapsed, not able to handle my weight. I fell again, the sounds of the zombies drawing nearer. Angel tried to help me, "Go!" I said. She gave me one last solemn look, then sprinted out of sight.
I lifted myself onto my elbows and stole a look behind me. The zombies were almost on me. I managed to get to a point where I was balancing on my uninjured foot. I leaned against the wall, and I started hopping toward the direction where the door was. I clasped my knife tighter in the hand that wasn't on the wall. I turned a corner, I could see the door, just twenty feet in front of me.
I sped up my hopping, I was almost there. I was just about to exit the door when I slipped and fell again. Thankfully, Angel caught me. "Thanks," I said as I stood up.
"Come on, let's go." Madelyn urged us.
"There's no way Claudia is going to be able to keep pace with us," Angel said.
"I'll carry her," Kristen said. "You guys get going we'll be right behind you."
"Ok," Angel said. Everyone except Kristen and I started walking.
"Let's get going, the zombies are catching up." I said.
"Good for them," Kristen said standing still.
"What are you doing!? Do you want to be killed!?" I said frantically.
"I don't, but I want you to be." Kristen said. "The less people we have the less supplies we'll have to use."
Kristen started to walk away. "I'm not going down alone," I said. I stabbed Kristen in the back of her neck.
"What are you doing!?" She screamed at me, the group was now too far away to hear us. Kristen spun around as a pulled out my knife, blood soaking the back of her neck.
"You heard me," I said. "I'm not going down alone." I took the opportunity of her facing me to bend down and slice open bother knee caps.
The zombies were directly behind us now. I sprang forward to stay out of their grasp for as long as possible. I only went about two feet away. I started pulling myself farther backward with my arms, trying to keep the distance between the zombies and I.
Kristen had fallen when I sliced open her knee caps, not being ready for the attack. The zombies were upon her now, ripping open her flesh. They paid no attention to me.
I backed myself away so I was out of view. I went behind a building and got myself to my feet, or foot, again. I started going back in the direction we came, not sure if I was going to make the journey back to town.
