Will's POV
"Where did they say they were going?" I asked.
"Just to some stores in town," Madelyn told me.
"By now who knows where they are!" I said to no one in particular.Greg's POV
When I woke up Angel and Mark were slumped against the wall beside me. I couldn't move, I was a paralyzed. All I could do was move my eyes to look around the room, empty, except for the three of us. I could see a door on the other side of the room and there were no windows. I tried to lift my arm but to no avail.
I saw Angel start to stir next to me. She stood up, clearly not paralyzed like me. Her wrists were bound together but she pulled them apart as if they weren't. She looked at me. Her eyes looked cold and dead, as if in a trance.
Angel grabbed my arm, right below the shoulder. She picked me up and threw me across the room. I hit my head off the wall, a headache now pounding in my head. I tried to move my head in Angel's direction but I was still paralyzed. The next thing I heard horrified me.
I heard Mark screaming. Then, I heard a loud thud. Mark screamed for a few more seconds, then everything fell silent. I felt something warm start to seep into my pant legs. I wasn't sure, but I had a pretty good idea of what it was.
I heard a door open somewhere behind me. "Great job," I heard a feminine voice say. Two sets of footsteps slowly got quieter. The door clicked behind me and the noise of the footsteps faded out entirely.
I tried to turn my head again. I could, painfully. I moved my arms, they moved as well. I attempted to stand. As soon as I got my feet flat on the ground I collapsed again. I took time to look around the room. Mark was sitting about five feet away from me. He had blood smeared on his clothes, but no visible injuries. He was unconscious, but I could see his chest moving, slowly but surely.
I tried to stand again. This time I caught myself against the wall. I slowly made my way over to the door. I tried the handle, locked, as I presumed. I made my way away from the door incase someone opened it. I sat back down, leaning against the wall. I started to search my brain for a possible way to escape.Claudia's POV
Journal Entry:
The house next door has been eerily quiet. I'm not sure if that means whoever was living there moved or if something... else happened.
Last night some zombies tried to break into my house. They had the door open about three inches by the time I realized what was going on. I stabbed two who were right at the door in the head, then slammed it shut. I put whatever other heavy objects I could find in the house in front of both the front and back doors just to be safe. I even carried down a mattress and a box spring from one of the bedrooms upstairs. Hopefully everything stays safe, for now at least.I closed the journal and set it on the end table. I laid down on the couch to take a quick nap, only ten minutes. I ended up waking up about four hours later. I practically sprang off the couch and searched the whole house to make sure everything was clear. Thankfully, it was. I sat back down on the couch and continued reading.
Will's POV
"Mark! Angel!" I screamed into the empty street. No answer, as I expected.
"Hey, Will?" Shane asked.
"What?" I responded in an annoyed tone.
"Can we stop so I can use the bathroom?" Shane said.
"Run into an empty house, be quick about!" I said as Shane ran into the closest house. Three minutes later he emerged back out.
"Guys!" He yelled. "You might want to come check this out!" Madelyn and I ran into the house at full speed.
"What?" I said as I came to a halt.
"I was looking for a bathroom and I open this door..." Shane fell silent and pulled open one of the doors. Angel was sitting on, or rather, falling off, a chair in the center of the room.
"Angel!" I exclaimed. She didn't lift her head. "Angel! It's me, Will!" Angel didn't move. "What's wrong with her?" I said to Madelyn and Shane.
Suddenly, Angel rose from her seat. She lifted her head and looked directly into my eyes. Her eyes looked cold and dead, it sent a chill down my spine. Angel walked forward, directly toward me. She pushed me backward, until I reached a wall. She grabbed my neck and pinned my there, I started to wheeze at the shortness of breath.
Shane and Madelyn tried to pull her off of me, but couldn't. "Angel," I gasped. "This isn't you." I coughed. "Fight it."
"Now Angel," a voice behind Angel said. "We wouldn't want to kill him without him watching the death of his comrades first." Angel let my neck go, and I fell to the ground, gasping for breath. "You now what to do." I got a glimpse of the person who was walking. They, whoever they were, seemed to have feminine features.
Angel grabbed my armed and pulled me up of the ground. She dragged me down the hall past several doors with who knows what inside. Finally, we stopped at one. Angel opened it and shoved me inside. I immediately turned around to see if Madelyn and Shane had followed us, the had. Angel threw them into too and then walked in behind us. She locked the door.
I took a look around the room. Laying on the ground were two humanoid shapes. One I could make out as Mark, the other, a stranger. "Mark!" I said, I tried to run forward. Angel held me back. I tried to get out of her grasp, but couldn't.
Angel shoved me against the wall and walked over to Mark. "Wake up, sleepyhead." Angel said, Mark stirred. "I said, wake up!" she slapped Mark. He opened his eyes.
"Angel?" he mustered in a raspy voice.
Angel pulled him up of the ground. She pulled a knife out of her pocket. Carefully she cut open the palm of one of Mark's hands, then the other. "No!" I cried out, she was going to kill Mark.
"Will?" Mark said. "Will!" he said again. Mark tried to run to me, but Angel held him back.
Madelyn charged forward, her bat raised above her head. When she reached Angel she started to beat her with it. "Give back Angel!" she yelled. Angel was shocked for only a few seconds. Next, she raised the knife to Mark's throat. Shane ran forward and twisted Angel's arm behind her back. He pulled the knife out of her grasp. Angel shoved Madelyn and Shane back so hard they fell down. She went to grab the knife. I ran over and got it before she could. "Run!" I yelled to everyone. I saw Shane pick the stranger up off the ground. They ran out of the room. Madelyn and Mark still standing there. "Go!" I said. Madelyn gave Angel one more good hit on the back of the head with her bat, she left, Mark still standing there. "Leave! I'll be fine! I promise!" I yelled to Mark. He finally left with a solemn look on his face. All I wanted was for my friends to be safe.
I put my full attention on Angel. She was trying to wrench the knife out of my hand. I stabbed her with it. Angel only faltered for a second. I kneed her in the stomach and ran, as fast as I could. I ran out the front door and everyone was waiting. "Run!" I said. "She's coming!"
We all took off at a mad sprint, not sure where we were going. I could hear the sound of footsteps slowly draw nearer. "Keep going!" I said. I turned to face Angel.
"Angel, I know you're in there!" I yelled as she approached. "Fight this, I know you can! You've survived worst!"
"Will?" Angel said, she shook her head. "Your friend is no longer here."
"I know you're in there! Come on, Angel!" I said.
"I can't," Angel said. "It's too strong!"
"Yes, you can! You are now!" I saw a bit of life return to Angel's eyes.
"Angel is gone!" she said. "I can't, Will! It's too strong!"
"Keep going, Angel!" I said.
"GET OUT OF MY HEAD!" Angel yelled. She let out a long scream. I swore I could see the darkness leave her. "Will!" Angel said, she ran toward me. "That thing, whatever it did, I'm sorry."
"It's not your fault." I said.
"That girl," Angel said. "Somehow she... she got a sort of demon inside me."
"You're sure it's gone?" I said.
"It left me, but it's around here somewhere." Angel told me. "I get the feeling this isn't going to be the last we see of her."
"Is she the one I saw behind you when demon you was trying to choke me?" I asked. "And do you know who that stranger in the room with Mark was?"
"I believe that was her." Angel responded. "And, that's Greg. When Mark and I were out looking for supplies were ran into mutant zombies. We were looking for cover and stumbled into his house. Next thing you know the three of us were kidnapped."
"Wow... Lets go home." I said. "And watch out for mutant zombies." Angel and I both let out a small chuckle. Together we headed home to where our group awaited.(A/N) Hey guys!
