After breakfast we immediately started taking down our tents. I went in mine and got out both Michael's and my stuff. Michael took down our tent.
Fifteen minutes later everyone was ready to go. "Today's plan is to walk until about four o'clock. Then we settle for the night," Valerie said. "Then tomorrow some of us are going to head into the town that I plan to be near so we can replenish any lost supplies."
We were walking for about a half hour when I noticed Mike was walking about six feet behind the group. I stopped walking until I was standing beside him. I then continued walking, now along side him. "What's got you so upset?" I asked.
"I've been thinking."
"About what?"
"When my parents died. I left school early the day the apocalypse started because my mom said I could leave. She didn't have prior knowledge, just every now and then she'd let me leave early. I was watching TV on the couch when I heard a banging on the door. Not knocking, just banging. Suddenly the TV show was cut of by a breaking news announcement. "Zombies are invading-" the reporter said before she was cut of by the sound of my door bursting open. Ten zombies stumbled in and immediately started attacking my mom and dad since they were closer to the door. I yelled, "I love you!" As a grabbed a kitchen knife and started running toward the back door. I barely got out safely."
"If it makes you feel better I have no idea what happened to my parents."
"It doesn't, but thanks for trying."
"Let me know if this is rude or too invasive of your privacy. What has you thinking about this long after the apocalypse started?" It had been almost two months since it started.(A/N) Sorry to interrupt the story but I know some people with ask about this. If you go into each chapter and count the times we slept plus the days I was knocked out it will only add up to around two weeks. More days went by in between the chapters. Sorry to interrupt the story and enjoy!
"I guess I might as well tell you," Mike said. "I've started to develop feelings for someone in the group and I'm scared their going to get killed. I don't think I could handle the loss of someone else I care about."
"Who? I mean you don't have to tell if you don't want to."
Mike stopped and turned to me. He inhaled before he spoke. "You."(A/N) How do I feel about this? Do I share Mike's feelings? Will this ruin our friendship? Find out in the next chapter. Also, the picture at the beginning of the chapter is what I imagine Mike would look like in real life, a little nerdy but adorable! I didn't draw it. Thank you so much to all of my readers! I've officially hit 63 reads! That's over half way to one hundred! I seriously could not have done it without you guys! If you leave a comment on this chapter you will get a shout out in the next one! Thank you again for reading my story and have a great day!
