A Conundrum

I woke up to here screaming through the door. "CLAUDIA, GET YOUR BUTT OUT OF THAT BED THIS INSTANT OR YOU'LL BE A SACRIFICE TO THOSE ZOMBIES!" Angel yelled through the door. She banged on the door harder and harder. I quickly got up before Angel knocked the door of its hinges.
"I'm sorry! I'm up!" I said, half throwing the door open.
"WE HAVE A HUGE PROBLEM!" Angel yelled. "MARK IS MISSING!"
"Oh my gosh, what happened!" I said.
"Will dosed off and when he woke up the door was open and Mark was gone. Will found a note on the ground too." Angel quickly said.
"What did it say?" I asked.
"It said, If you ever want to see your precious friend again you'll have to sacrifice one of your other friends." Angel said. "And Will's losing it. He keeps saying he's going to be the sacrifice. I figured one of us would just be the "sacrifice" and manage to somehow escape death. We know if it's Will he'll be more than willing to die for Mark so it can't be him."
"I'll do it," I said. "Do you know where the people who took him are?"
"If we can't find them then they'll probably find us," Angel said. "Are you sure you want to be the "sacrifice"?"
"Yes, Angel." I said. "Let's get going." Angel walked toward the steps with me following close behind me.
I saw Will pacing in the living, he had tear streaks on his face. "Get your bag together Will, we're leaving soon." Angel said.
"Hey, Will." I said in a soft tone. "I'm going to be the sacrifice." Then in a more stern tone I said, "There is nothing you can do to change that."
"Claudia, please, I don't want anyone else endangered. I got us in this mess, I should be the sacrifice." Will said.
"Will, you can't." I said. "And I'm going to find a way to get out. You and I both know you are more than willing to die for Mark. I won't let you take that risk."
"Fine." Will said. "I'm still not ok with this though."
We got our bags together and headed out the front door. On the sidewalk was another note. Angel bent down and picked it up. Will and I read it over her shoulders. It said:

Dawson is where he is
Don't diss this note or you'll miss
The stop at which
You could be bewitched

"What is this?" Angel asked.
"It's where Mark is," I said.
"Can you explain what it means?" Will said.
"I think so," I said. "The first line means Mark is in Dawson, the second line says to pay attention to the note, the third and fourth should be put together to tell us that where Mark is, that we should be careful or we'll fall under someone else's control."
"How did you do that?" Will asked.
"Maggie was obsessed with the Percy Jackson book series and with all the prophecies in that I picked up a few things." I said.
"We have about three towns to go," Angel said.
"How close can we get today?" I said.
"Probably two more towns," Angel said. "It's too dangerous to be walking at night so we will have to stop in a house for the night."
"Let's get going." I said. We started walking.
"How did they get him there so fast?" Will said.
"For all we know they aren't even there yet," I said. "They would of had to put the note there before leaving so they weren't in Dawson at the time."
"True," Angel said. "I hate to worry anyone, but what if Mark isn't even there and this is just a death trap."
"We need to check anyway." Will said. "We can take extra precautions or whatever you guys want but we still need to see if he's there."
"Make sure you have your weapons ready. Be really cautious with everything." Angel said.
We walked in silence. A few zombies came around and we easily killed them. About an hour later we reached the next town.
"I didn't realize the next town was so close." I said.
"I checked the map last night. I did plan to scavenge here, but with the current situation we can still survive skipping it." Angel said.
Out of the corner of my eye I saw Will running behind a bush. I saw him bend down and start gagging. I turned to Angel. "This is really taking a toll on him." I said. "I really hope we find Mark safe and sound."
Will ran back over and he wiped his mouth. "Let's get going," he said.
     "Are you ok?" Angel asked.
"Physically, maybe. Mentally, no." Will said.
That was the end of our conversation until the next town. When we got there when the sun was about a half hour from setting.
"When we get to our house for the night, Will go find a bedroom to stay in. Claudia and I have watch." Angel said.
We went in the first safe looking house we saw. "Claudia, check the third floor and the second. I have the first. Meet back here when you're done."
"I'll take the second," Will said. "I can handle myself."
"Ok, if you're sure." Angel said. "Please report down here when it's cleared. Then you can head to bed."
Will and I went up the steps. I walked to the end of the hall before I found the steps to the third floor. As I was walking up the steps I thought I heard sobbing. I readied my knife.
We when I reached the top of the steps I saw two people in the attic. One was sitting on the ground. He looked up, "Claudia?" he said.

(A/N) Hey guys! The picture at the top of the chapter is one of my cats, Barnabas. Sorry it's a little blurry. I chose that picture because he has a look of shock on his face. Thank you for reading and have a great day!
