Talking

Watch was long and quite. I was happy when I saw the sun start to peek through the curtains at the front of the house. "Get everyone else up," Angel said in an annoyed tone.
"Angel why are you so upset?" I asked in a solemn voice as not to anger her more.
"Because," she started. She took a deep breath. "I'm afraid. Afraid that I won't make a good leader. Afraid someone else who I care about is going to die. Just afraid everything that can go wrong will. And the only way I have ever known to express most of my emotions is through anger. I don't want anyone else to die and I don't want you guys to hate me if I make a bad move as leader." I could see Angel's eyes tear up.
"Angel," I said softly. "So far you have been a great leader. There is absolutely no reason you should be afraid about being leader. You're a great person and you have proven that you are the person here who most deserves the role as leader. Please, stop putting yourself down. I am honestly telling as a member of your group and your friend, you are a great person and an amazing leader."
I saw Angel wipe a tear off her cheek. "Thanks," she said. "I needed that. Please go wake everyone else up."
I walked to each of the bedroom doors to get Mark and Will up. Mark responded immediately, where as Will needed his door to be pounded on and for him to be shouted at by me, and then Mark. We did get him up in the end.
"We're leaving in five minutes," Angel said. "Breakfast is on the road."
We were walking toward the next town, killing a few zombies here and there when Will started talking. "Do you guys ever wonder if the world will ever return to the state it was in before the apocalypse?"
"Probably not in our life time, even if the apocalypse does end in our life time." Angel said.
"How much progress we made in the years leading up to the apocalypse is as good as gone at this point." I said. "We will probably return to the point we were at if the apocalypse does end a long time from now."
"Are you talking centuries?" Mark asked.
"Yes," I said. "It took us an insanely long time to get to the point that we were at before the apocalypse. And without almost all of that data, future generations are going to have to start fairly fresh with everything."
"Wow," Will said. "I hadn't thought about it in that much detail."
"How many people do you think are left on earth?" Angel asked.
      "More than three," Mark said.
"I'm being serious, Mark." Angel said. "We aren't necessarily the most capable people of apocalyptic survival. And we did manage to survive this far."
"I think there are more people," Will said. "We are all very separated so we can't find each other. But I believe others definitely exist."
"Do you guys think everything will be better or worse?" Mark said. "I mean in the past there were a lot racist, xenophobic, sexist, and homophobic people in the past. Among others."
"I hope it'll be better, but since we don't know who else is still alive we can't be sure." I said.
"Since our population has decreased drastically, I think in the end everyone will have to band together and things will get better." Angel said.
"It would be great if everyone had to band together," Will said. "If you think farther into the future everyone working together now could lead to less war, because of friendships in the past."
"I'm glad we're all thinking very positive especially during these times of hardship and distress," I said.
"Why do you sound like an election commercial?" Will asked. "America has fallen into times of hardship and distress. Vote Will Pemander and he will fix America." Will said in a commercial narrator tone. Pemander is also Will's last name.
We all laughed at Will's funny remark. "I couldn't think of a better to phrase it." I said.
"Will, you are aware that we are in Canada, right?" Angel said.
"I know that, but I'm from America." Will said.
"Once I was watching the news after my parents voted for one of the elections and the news reporter said some of the other voters were claiming that after the clicked the candidate they wanted it would change to the other one. It was so weird!" Mark said.
(A/N) Sorry! The opportunity came and I took it! This wasn't meant to offend anyone if it happened to. I meant it in a lighthearted way. Have a great day!
"I heard about that!" Will said. "I had trouble believing it! I was just happy when the election was over even though the candidate I favored didn't win!"
(A/N) Sorry! I can't help myself!
"That was one of the most strangest, yet most entertaining elections I ever saw, not that I saw many. I hope in the future someone will still be able to write about it in history books." I said.
"Yeah, I hope so too." Angel said.
We continued to walk and talk for a few more hours until we saw a town come into view. "Mark and Will have watch," Angel said.
We found a house that had two floors. The outside was red with a copper colored roof. The door was locked so Will kicked the handle in. We checked out the inside of the house to make sure everything was safe. When it was clear we put heavy and large objects against the door to keep it shut and secure for the night.
Angel passed around granola bars and we ate in silence. After dinner I stood up to head to bed because I was really tired. "Good night, everyone." I said. Everyone else said good night and Angel and I headed up to bed. My room for the night was on the right of the staircase. It was obviously a teenagers room based on the way it was decorated, a bunch of random posters on the walls and clothes on the floor.
I plopped onto the bed and four minutes later I was asleep.

(A/N) Hey guys! The election references were meant to be lighthearted I didn't want to offend anyone and I'm sorry if I did! Please try and recognize it as a joke! Thank you for reading and have a great day!
