Maggie's POV
We burst into the navy blue house. "Everyone be quiet," I whispered. We all walked around looking for a way upstairs. Four minutes later we found the steps.
"I'll walk up then I'll give you guys the clear," Valerie said. She crept slowly up the steps. When she reached the top she poked her head around the the corner. She made the hand gesture to follow her up.
We all walked up the steps until I was directly behind Valerie. She slowly crept around the corner since there was no where else to go. I readied my machete incase someone or something jumped at us.
Valerie slowly open the first door of three. Which one has the prize behind it? An empty bedroom. Valerie walked to the second door with the rest of us close behind her. She opened the door. An empty bathroom. Only one door left. My heart started to race. I tightened the grip on my machete.
Valerie turned the knob on the door at the end of the hall. She slowly pushed it open. There were six people surrounding the door. They look like the six people from my dream. The one closest to us on the left slit Valerie's throat in a swift motion. Valerie managed to cut the girl who slit her throat on the upper thigh as she fell to the ground, slowly bleeding out.
I stepped over Valerie's limp body and I immediately went after the girl who killed my friend. A few good hacks from my machete decapitated her. I turned to fight the next of Claudia's kidnappers.
A boy who reminded me of Nico di Angelo from the Percy Jackson book series but obviously a lot meaner tried to stab me. I swung my machete and sliced from his left shoulder to his right hip open in a deep cut. He fell to his knees.
I saw Mark and Will kill another boy. John took down a girl. A boy walked up behind John with a knife if his hand.
"John look out!" I yelled, but I was too late. John got stabbed in the heart. He fell to his knees. I walked up behind the boy who murdered another one of my friends. I swung my machete to the front of his body and I slit his throat.
I took out another boy. There was only one left. Mark, Will, and I corned the last boy.
"Please," he said. "I only joined them because death was the only other option. My name is Sam. Please, take me with you. I'm not like them."
Will was about to lunge at Sam but I held him back. "Did you try to save my sister? To help her? To make sure she wouldn't have to have a fate like yours? No. You only cared about yourself. About your own life. Maybe you'll learn to be more considerate when you're in the afterlife." I said. I took a step toward him and I decapitated him in two clean swings. "That's what happens to inconsiderate fools."
I turned toward Claudia, who was standing against a wall, chains at her wrists holding her back. "Claudia! I'm so glad you're safe!" I hugged her.
"Thank you so much for coming! I'm so sorry I left! I just needed a break from Mike! I never should have done something so drastic! I'm sorry!" Claudia said. She broke into tears which I could only guess were of both sorrow and joy.
"How are we going to get her out if those chains?" Mark asked.
I pulled a bobby pin out if my bun and I started on the right lock. Ten minutes later Claudia was free to go home with her friends and family.Claudia's POV
"Thank you," I said, rubbing my chafed wrists. I looked over at John's limp body. "Let's go," I said. "I don't want to be in this house anymore." I realized I was crying. I dried my eyes and I walked toward the door. Valerie was sitting dead against the wall in the hall. I stifled a sob.
When we left the house I took a deep breath of fresh air. "Where's Angel?" I asked.
"Back at the house, she fell on her knee." Maggie said.
"Oh, good. I mean, not good that she fell but good that she isn't dead." I said.
"What happened between you and Mike?" Maggie asked.
"I wasn't happy with him so I broke up with him. Then I found out those cannibals killed him and was eating him." I said in a resentful tone when I got to the cannibals part.
"They were cannibals!?" Mark exclaimed.
"Yeah. Pretty messed up, huh?" I said.
We walked back in silence.
When we walked inside Angel greeted us at the door. "Claudia!" she said. "I'm so happy you're safe!" Angel gave me a hug. "Where are Valerie, John, and Mike?"
"Dead," I said in a quiet voice.
"Oh, at least you guys made it out safely," Angel said trying to stay positive.
I closed the door and moved everything that we were using to block the door back in place.
That's one threat defeated. At the expense of many good people. Many more to go.
