"EVERYONE GET UP!" Valerie yelled and banged on the door of everyone's tent. I got up and put on my sheath. Michael had already left the tent. I left the tent for breakfast to be almost thrown at me and more yelling.
"JASON, MICHAEL, CLAUDIA, AND I ARE HEADING INTO TOWN IN FIFTEEN!" Valerie yelled. "MARK, MAGGIE, AND MIKE TAKE DOWN THE TENTS WHILE WE'RE GONE!"
"Lower your voice!" Mark said. "Are you trying to attract zombies?"
"Ok, we're leaving now," Valerie said with a stern look on her face. "Everyone grab your bags and come on."
Twenty minutes later we got to the outskirts of town. "Michael and I are going to get medical supplies. You and Jason get food." Valerie said to me. "And try to avoid zombies as much a possible. Meet back here in twenty."
Jason and I ran to the store to stock up on food. We thankfully got there undetected. We quickly and quietly filled our bags with food that didn't need to be refrigerated. I mostly had water, instant pancakes, and ramen. Jason had everything else.
Fifteen minutes later we headed to the way we came into town. Five minutes after that Valerie came back.
"Where's Michael?" I asked.
"He didn't make it," Valerie said. "The store was already invaded by zombies. I didn't get to grab anything. I said run but Michael was trying to kill them. There were too many. I tried to help but if I had stayed any longer I would of been killed."
We started walking back to base before we heard someone say, "Wait!"
It was a girl. There were two guys with her. "Please take us with you. We don't have any supplies." She said.
"No, if we take you back to base you'll just kill us and take all of our supplies," Valerie said.
"We're not like that," the girl insisted. "We promise to help you if you help us."
I whispered to Valerie, "We should take them along. Three people couldn't overpower sev-... six anyway."
"No," Valerie whispered back. "They'd just be a nuisance."
"They could be helpful. Plus, we shouldn't leave survivors behind to die."
"Fine!" Valerie grunted. "Come on. And don't try anything."
"Thank you so much!" The girl said. "I'm Angel by the way. This is John. And this is Will."
"Nice to meet you," I said. I'm Claudia. This is Valerie. And this is-"
"Jason!" He interjected.
"Thank you all. It is a pleasure to meet your acquaintance," John said.
About fifteen minutes later we got back to what camp was.
"Come on we need to move now to make progress," Valerie said. "I'll explain everything on the way." We still had about three hours of sunlight left. Once we started walking Valerie explained what happened to Michael and who Angel, John, and Will are.
"I'm just glad you got out safe," Mike said to me. I grabbed his hand as we were walking.
"So tell us a little bit about yourselves," Maggie said to Angel, John, and Will.
Angel spoke. "Well, the three of us were in twelfth grade together when the apocalypse started. We barely got out with two of ours friends, Ashley and Lucas. But, they sadly didn't last long."
Our group size has went from seven to six to nine all in one day. The extract hands would be beneficial, but the extract mouths to feed wouldn't be.We continued walking for two hours before finding a spot to rest for the night. We got the tents up, but we didn't bother to light a fire. We just ate stuff that didn't need to be heated.
"Who's going in what tents," Mark asked.
"Angel can come in Valerie and my tent," Maggie said. I could tell Maggie and Angel were already becoming good friends.
"I guess John and Will could come with me," I said. We all dispersed into our tents and went to sleep... or so I thought.
About an hour later. I hadn't fallen asleep yet. But even if I had I would of woken up. "GO TO SLEEP!" Valerie yelled. Will and John sat up immediately.
"What the hell was that?" John asked while rubbing the back of his head.
"If I had to guess, I'd say Maggie and Angel were doing something and Valerie got annoyed by it and yelled at them. Therefore waking everyone else up," I said.
"Has this happened before?" Will asked.
"Nope. Just try to fall back asleep," I said. Thankfully, it was quiet for the rest of the night. But, I don't think anyone got any sleep.
