Angel's POV
"We're almost there!" I said, looking up from the map, I shoved it back in my bag, not needing it anymore.
We walked for about ten more minutes until we reached the house we were staying in. Shane knocked on the door and Lilly opened it up right away. "Come in! Come in!" she urged us.
As we walked in Mark looked up, a gleam of hope in his eyes. He was still sitting with Will, clearly not wanting to let him go.
"It'd probably be the best to get Will into a bed," Shane said. Mark carefully picked Will up bridal style, and he carried him upstairs. All of us followed, interested to see if Will would be ok.
We all filed into a bedroom on the right of the staircase. Mark set Will gently on the bed. Shane walked to the left side of the bed, Mark on the right.
"I don't know how long it will take for the medication to take effect. It could take anywhere from an hour to several days." Shane said.
"How will we know if it doesn't work?" I asked.
"If it takes more than two weeks then we know it hadn't taken effect." Shane responded. "I'm going to give him the injection to him now."
Mark had a worried look on his face but he seemed ready for Will to be back on his feet. Shane took the cap of the needle and he pulled something in a white packet out of his pocket. I recognized it a sanitization wipe packet. Shane open it and he wiped off the side of Will's neck. He carefully stick the needle in and pushed the syringe, the fluid started to empty from its containment chamber. Once the fluid had fully emptied from the syringe, Shane pulled the needle out. "Now all we can do is wait," he said.
"I want to go out and collect more resources," I said. "Does anyone want to come with me?"
"I'll go," Mark said. "It seems like it'll be a while until Will wakes up and I think it'll be a good idea to get some fresh air."
"Good luck," Lilly said. "We'll see you out the door."
The seven of us filed out of the room and down the steps. Mark and I each grabbed backpacks that were almost entirely empty and we picked up our weapons. "See you later!" I said as Mark and I walked out the door.
"See you guys later!" Mark said.
Mark and I walked in mostly silence for about twenty minutes. Every store we saw had been raided already. Eventually we came across something interesting. "Oh my gosh!" Mark said, I shushed him so we wouldn't catch their attention. In front of us were three mutated zombies. They were all at least ten feet tall with a dozen arms and three heads.
"Back away slowly," I whispered. Mark and I crept backward, careful to make as little noise as possible. Mark, however, accidentally tripped over a limb from a tree and into a pile of leaves.
The mutations turned toward us. I pulled Mark off the ground and we turned and ran at a sprint. I could heard the thuds every time one of them stepped draw nearer to us.
"This way!" I yell as I turned a corner. I sprint up the steps of a house to the door. I kicked the handle not caring if it was unlocked or not. After Mark ran in behind me, I turned around and slammed the door shut.
"Who are you?" A voice said behind me.(A/N) Hey guys! Sorry for the shorter chapter! I wanted to get something out for you guys and I thought ending it on a cliffhanger would be a good idea! Thank you all so much for reading and have a fantastic day!
