"You've officially confirmed it for me," Grey laughed, his demeanor calm, which alarmed me, "You're bat shit if you think you're taking my woman to war."

"You'd be even crazier if you didn't let her. This war will spread from my kind to the wolves who've taken them in, it'll be a blood bath, a massacre. But she can stop this."

"And how the hell do you think she can stop an entire war?"

"Killing the man who's starting it."

"You.. you want me to kill Alpha Baptiste?" I could barely get the question off my tongue.

"You're the only one who can get close enough to him."

"Through Tino.. and Minette.."

"Yes."

Grey spoke now, "You're willing to use your friend?"

"If it saves his ass, then yes. Yes, Alpha Grey, I am."

"You've been quiet since we've conversed with the vampire."

"Gabe, his name's Gabriel. And I'm quiet because I'm.." Was I upset with Grey? And if I was, why? Why was I feeling so, so angry?

"Nova-"

"I need to find Tino! He could be hurt, or worse.." I yelled at him, "That will be my last words. Me telling him how much his life didn't matter because I was missing my mother in mine. She's our mother, the both of ours. I-"

"Pet." He grabbed me and before I could protest against his hold, he embraced me. A deep, warm embrace that I unknowingly needed.

I cried under his massive frame.

"We'll find him. And we'll slaughter Baptiste.. if that is what you want."

I leaned away from him in order to look into those comforting, lazy eyes that reflected over until his unusual brown was back to unusual normal. Ah, and that spec of green.

"He'll die." He's not only disrupted my life, but now he's endangering his own son's. And that would be one thing if that son of his didn't so happen to be my brother. "By my hands."

A few days had passed since our strange meeting with our newfound friend, or rather, my friend.

It hasn't just been Grey who seemed to be uneasy about our newcomer. And even more so, that newcomer being a vampire.

"They'll get over it." I said, leaning over to Gabe as we all sat in a room with a good handful of pack members.

"And if not?" He asked me, not meeting my eyes as his danced around the room. Probably noting every upturned look and snotty comments being shot his way.

"Then I'll go all MMA on them." I smiled.

He looked at me chuckling, probably envisioning a few days ago when I attacked the poor guy. "Deal."

"Deal."

The room came to a standstill as Grey entered with the last of the group, one of them being Monica. Who in all honesty, I didn't mind so much being around.

So long as she kept the word pet out of her mouth.

Audri and Lynn, as per my request, remained at my father's side with pack-nurse Mae.

Everyone stood, not a lip parted, and bowed to their knee, lowing their heads as he made his way to the front of the ensemble.

I couldn't help but to watch his large frame, that still baffled me with how graceful he strode over to be the center of attention.
