Grey's POV

Three days.

Three long.. painful.. exhausting days.

..and still no word of Nova.

The royal pack of Lycanthropes have been holding her captive since our half-successful mission.

And it was taking everything in my power not to charge their packhouse. To do this the right way, for Nova's sake. And well, because, that's what Nova would do.

She would be in complete torment inside, yes, but on the outside she would hold herself together coolly in front of the pack. For the pack.

Though, I struggled to do so.

Within these dreadful seventy-two hours, not a soul dared to enter the packhouse but the Betas and Gammas, as well as the security team.

And the boy.

I'd shut down and along with me, the packhouse had began to shut down too.

It was dim here. Quiet. And every sound of a footstep, a brief chuckle, or a soft hum that sounded, made me wince at the emptiness I was feeling inside.

Our link had been shattered.

On the twelfth hour something had broken our already weakened connection, and since, I've felt bits and pieces of her slipping away.

Knowing she was at the mercy of her mother wasn't at all comforting. Princess Luna Minette was one of the last people on our lists of dislikes.

Now with the knowledge that they were attacking her wolf abilities, it only fueled my already enraged soul.

"If you can hear me, Goddess.." I turned away from my desk to face the window, watching the starless sky. "You'd better allow her home to me safe."

"I know we've fallen on hard times, my friend." Kale rounded the corner into my study. "But praying to the Goddess in such a way won't help our cause."

"I guess you misheard me." I turned away from the window. "It wasn't a prayer. It was a demand."

"Well then," He took a seat. "I guess we're in the clear." He eyed me carefully. "Still nothing?"

I lowered my gaze. "I've sent Spear over and over. The girls, they've even gone against my word in search of their Luna, and still, turn up with nothing." I sighed, struggling to keep my shaking hands calm by clasping them together.

"Then let's pull together another mission."

"That will be a pack suicide."

"We thought that the first time and we got out alright."

"Not all of us." I felt my eyes glare over, reflecting to his ignorance.

"You know I meant no harm in that statement, Grey." He used my name in a manner to show our friendship. Not simply our titles to one another.

"I know." I closed my eyes. "I'm-"

"Don't even apologize for it." He cut me off. "I couldn't begin to understand everything you're feeling, even if I can feel the cold absence of her presence myself. Being her mate, the half to her soul she would not be able to complete on her own.. I honestly don't think I could handle such a pain.."

I felt my eyes burn behind the lids and I grit my teeth together, his words stinging almost physically. Pinching nerves I had hoped to never have to deal with again.

"Merde." I swore softly, feeling a hand of comfort on my shoulder, and allowing a single tear to rest in the corner of my eye.

My sweet supernova.. gone again.
