Grey's POV

Quiet.

Everything in the packhouse was absolutely quiet.

There were no televisions announcing the game, no radios playing music, no laughter, chatter, or hope was left in the packhouse.

Not until..

Grey.. Mālama, wolf boy.

"Pet?" I immediately perked up, looking around for the voice I just knew I'd heard.

"Did you say something?" Kale looked over to me with cautious eyes.

Lately, the poor loyal fellow had been on me about eating, sleeping, and staying up with pack business, yet he'd been failing to do the same for himself.

'You would think he was going shopping with bags like that.' I could almost hear Nova day.

I hesitated a moment, listening for her voice again, before answering him, but not with a verbal response. I could only give him a slight nod as I listened. Jetting over to the balcony, I peered over. My mother stood just near the railing.

"Manu? He aha ia?"

I stood next to her, analyzing the grounds, the trees, any place my eyes would allow in search of her.

"Alpha Grey?" Kale stepped through the doors, worry clear as day on his face.

There was nothing. No sound but the night's air and the usual rustle in the woods. But it was there.. I knew I'd heard her, if only but a brief moment.

"Nova.." The breeze carried her name in the wind and with it, feelings of hope.. and unsettlingly dread.

I jumped from the balcony, remembering just not long ago Nova had done the same.

"Manu!" My mother called out to me, but it was too late.

Bare paws were already digging into the dirt and taking off into the forest, carrying me as fast as they could take me.

It would take them a while to catch up to me given my head start, but they weren't too far behind, the sound of their thoughts permeating through our pack link made me aware of that.

My guards were weary, tired from mentally searching for Nova for days on end, so my mind link was easily penetrable.

I ignored every question, every statement as my mind focused on one thing and one thing only.

I'm coming, Pet, don't worry.

I'm coming.

Gio POV

She was heavier than I'd expected.

Especially for such a petite luna. They usually had more body mass, more length, but that definitely didn't get in the way of how heavy this one was.

Even though she had gone without food for sometime, lost a lot of blood, her body was strong enough to survive. She may have been different than your typical luna, but that surely didn't stop her from being one.

"I'll.. kill you.." The young luna stirred in my arms as I made my way through the trees, unconsciousness the closest thing to having a peaceful slumber since the beginning of her ordeal.

"Kill me, will you?" I questioned with humor.

"Minette.. you won't.. you won't get away with.. what you've done.."

Oh? So the young luna has it out for her princess?

"You'll regret.. betraying us, Mom.."
