"Nightfall already."
"We're in town, might as well hole up here for the night. We're not far from the trail."
"After getting the request made and sent, I noticed we passed by a hotel not far off trail." I opened the door for her as we entered the restaurant.
"How do you think they'll contact us?"
"They know we're in town. They'll send a wolf."
"That doesn't sound safe."
"Don't shoot the messenger, Royal Slayer. Everyone is only doing what they're told."
"And if he's told to kill you?"
"I can handle my own weight."
"And me?"
"I'm offended. You think I'd let that happen?" I smiled and she rolled her dark brown contacts.
"Hello! Welcome to Hamsa House, dining for two?"
We both looked at one another and then back to the girl. We didn't say anything, just looked to her and stammered a bit.
It clearly made the young woman uncomfortable. "Right this way." She gestured for us to follow.
"Not too bad of a place." I tried to make small conversation as we took our seats.
She seemed to think for a moment. "I prefer take out."
"Your server, Samantha, will be right with you." The lady told us.
I nodded, keeping my eyes on the Luna.
"Homebody?" I asked, curious to know the reasons behind her words.
"I never really put much thought behind the fact that I hardly left Aureate Moon land once I met Greyden." She thought it over for a moment. "And even realizing it now, I would still prefer to be there."
"To be home." I could relate. "Then why not stay and get help from Alpha Grey? You know he would shoot the Goddess from the moon for you."
"Because, if you must know, I've been a pain in the ass for the pack since I've shown up."
"I don't doubt that."
Her eyes reflected, even behind her contacts as she glared at me.
I smiled. "Still doesn't mean they wouldn't help you."
"They don't even really know me."
"Wouldn't you fight for something, no matter the costs, if it was the right thing to do?"
Her eyes lessened in hardness.
"Good evening, I'll be serving you tonight. My name is Sam. Can I get the pair of you started off with any drinks tonight?"
"Water." She stated curtly.
"Scotch." I smiled up at the pretty waitress.
She set our menus in front of us. "Perfect, I'll be right back with those and to take your order."
"Thanks, Miss Samantha."
She blushed, shyly nodding her head as she scampered off to fetch our beverages.
"You flirt with every woman?" She looked at me clearly unamused.
"Have I with you?" I didn't smile, but the corner of my lips threatened to tug upwards and I knew that she could see it.
Her head slowly lifted up as she watched me. "What's love?" She said in a sarcastic tone that bit at me.
"I may have lost my love, but I'm still a man. Wolf or not." I leaned back, extending an arm over the top of the booth's backrest. Her eyes followed. "And Greyden? When he loses his love?"
