I closed the door to my father's room, leaving Pack-Nurse Mae to change his bandages. I hated watching her do it, he seemed so lifeless. So frail.
Grey waited for me by our room for my opinion on a few finishing touches. I was grateful that he let me add my own touches to our newly renovated room.
But in all honesty, I think the decorating was a distraction more so for him rather than for myself.
"What do you think, pet?"
I looked up at the tall, dark hunk of wolf in the bedroom doorway. He watched the interior designers straighten out a few last pieces of furniture.
"I think it's.. everything." I smiled, walking past him and into the room to take a look around.
Of course I kept our pack's signature gold and managed to add pieces of my signature black, which was now humorous to me considering the fact that I was known as the white wolf of the woods now.
A few pack members who'd yet to meet me, spotted me in the fight with Titus, and were in awe. Whispers spread from the packhouse through the pack of how rare a white wolf was, let alone a female one.
Great. I'd thought. Another thing to set me apart from them, yet again.
"You're everything." Grey pulled me out of my thoughts, sweeping me up and setting me up on our high-rise bed. I laid back, running my hands along the sheer gold bed curtains that were attached to our bedposts. The designers quickly scurried away with a short glance from Grey.
I didn't want to think about what he'd just said and how it'd creepily reminded me of the woman that takes turns haunting my dreams, a long with my own version of Grey as a child.
You're everything.
I felt the bed creak, then Grey peering over me.
"What is it, sweetheart? I can tell when you're keeping me out."
"Ugh, that's still going to take some getting use to."
"For me as for you. Now talk." He kissed my nose.
"The woman in the woods."
"What about her? Probably a pack member. A few of them like smelling like wet dog." He scoffed.
"I kept.. dreaming about her afterwards. And then, I seen her, sort of.. in Audri."
A small laughed slipped through my lips at his expression.
"Quelle? What the hell does that mean?" He was obviously confused.
"When we were back in the hotel, what happened to Audri.. I-I was inside her mind, inside her memories."
"Mon déesse, how is that even possible?" He looked frightened almost.
"I don't know, but I did, and I seen something.. terrible. And that woman, from the woods, she was there. She was there when it'd actually happened."
"When what happened? What did you see?"
"Audri was hurt, Grey. Hurt by someone really bad. And in the memory, in reality, I.."
I was afraid to look into his eyes. Afraid to admit that I wanted to do to this Laurent guy what he did to Audri, but worse.
"I felt the urge to punish him."
Grey smiled, "Then we'll have him punished."
"No, Grey." His smile faded and his eyes grew more serious as he watched me. "I want to punish him. I want to end him."
