I clutched Brodie's hand tightly as I lead her into the movie theater. She raised her eye brow at me, but I only smiled and helped walk her up the stairs. Once we found a seat, I couldn't get my leg to stop bouncing. She placed her hand on my leg as if to try and calm me.
"Everything alright, Oli?" she whispered. I shook my head, trying to give her the a-okay. But I wasn't okay. I was nervous. More nervous than I had ever been in my entire life. My hand brushed over the slight buldge of the little black box that was safely stored in my pocket. I let out another shaky breath.
"Are you sure everything is alright?" she asked again. The credits started rolling as I turned to look at her. I could still see the faint worry in her eyes, even in the growing dimness.
"Yes, love, everything is fine," I whispered. I leaned forward and kissed her forehead. Her tiny fingers tangled through mind and squeezed tightly.
"If you're scared, i promise I won't tell anyone that you were," she said. I smiled at her, even though it was quite dark now.
"Who says I'm scared?" I whisperd. A loud shush prevented her from answered. I sunk down into the seat and stared up at the screen. Though I knew I wouldn't be able to concentrait.
All I could think about was the black box in my pocket. i felt like everyone could see it, even though I had it descretely hidden under the long folds of my shirt. Maybe I was just being paranoid, but I felt like everyone knew what i was up to tonight. The slight smile of the cashier. The little wink the popcorn lady gave me. Was it that obvious that tonight I was going to ask the love of my life to marry me?
I shook myself and tried to concentrait on the movie, but I had no idea what was going on. I hadn't been paying attention. One second they were talking about a possessed doll, and now there was a haunted house and a creepy game called hide and clap. Brodie had been clutching my leg the entire time. Her small jumps were so adorable. She tried to pretnend scary movies didn't bother her, but I knew they did. I tried to suggest something else, but she insisted on this one. I couldn't even remember what it was called.
"Are you scared?" she whispered. I smiled and grabbed ahold of her hand.
"Not at all," I said.
"Have you even been watching it at all?" she hissed. I tried to play cool, but she knew better. She sighed heavily.
"I'm not going out with you any more if you don't even like the movie we go see," she said. I lifted her hand and brought it to my lips, kissing it softly.
"Sorry, love, I guess I'm just hungry," I said. She sighed and slumped into her seat.
"Fine. Next time we'll go see the romantic comedy, like you wanted," she muttered. I smiled at her in the dark and squeexed her hand. If only she knew why I wasn't paying attention to the silly movie... It wasn't even that scary...

"Reservation for two, please," I asked the waiter softly. He smiled slightly and pulled out two menues and gestured towaards a quieter part of the restaurant. I silently thanked him as Brodie and I picked our way through the tables. The waiter set the menues down and gave a slight bow, smiling again at me.
"What was that all about?" Brodie asked. I shrugged and pulled the chair out of her. She raised her eye brow at me, but sat down anyway.
"Everyhting alright?" she asked. I quickly slunk to my seat and flipped open the menu.
"i told you love, everything is fine," I said, not looking up. She stared at me for a few more seconds, and finally sighed heavily and picked up her own menu.
As I skimmed the words, I couldn't help but to peak up at her. She looked so beautiful tonight. Her hair, now back to it's natural blonde, was in loose curls that framed her face. She had on the dress that Cassie and I had picked out for her, and it looked beautiful on her. Her face was squinted up, peering down at the menu. I knew she was upset, and I fetlt bad. I coudln't help but to be jumpy.
I quietly set my menu down and stared across the table at Brodie. She was still transfixed at her own menu. I pulled it awy from her hands and set it down as well.
"Oli, I wasn't done with that," she said. I smiled at her.
"I know," I said. Brodie sighed.
"What is up wtih you tonight? I thought you were hungry tongiht," she said. She went to reach back for her menu, but I grabbed her hand instead.
"What?" she asked. I took in a shaky breath before I began speaking.
"Brodie, from the moment I saw your tiny frame being smashed into the guard bar at my opening concert, I knew you were something special. Now, at the time, I didn't know how special you would be to me, but that doesn't matter now. Brodie, every time I look at you, it's like I'm falling in love with you all over again. I never knew it was possible for someone to make my heat beat fast and slow all at the same time. You're only the girl who's ever made my stomach flip, make me sweat becuase I'm so nervous, and actually show me what love really is. Without you, I wouldn't be here. You are literally my life. You're my whole world, and these isn't anyything else I'd rather have then to spend ther est of my life with you. It's impossible to even imagine life before you, let alone without you," I said. Tears had started streaming down her face long before I finished. I reached up and carefully wiped them away.
"Brodie Lynn Dakota Bryant, I only have one question for you know, and to be honest, I'm scared shitless. But I know if I don't, then there is a chance I might not ever get to, and I couldn't bare to lose you again," I whipered. I pulled away from her hand and pulled out the little black box. I let out another shaky breath as I carefully opened it, pulling out the ring. Brodie let out a tiny gasp, sending more tears spilling down her face. I carefully stood up and walked over to her side of the table. Her covered her mouth with her hands as she continued to cry. I smiled as I kneeled down on one knee and gazed up at her.
"Brodie, I love you more than air, and I want to ask you... Will you marry me?" I whispered. I slid the ring onto her finger. She gazed down at the ring and sobbed. Then, she finally looked up at me. She reached down with her hand and brought it to rest under my chin, pulling me upwards. Her lips met mine, kissing me hard, her fingers tangled through my hair as she pulled me closer.
"Oliver Scott Sykes, I never thought you'd ask," she whispered.
