Matty and I walked down the street together. I drug him along with me today because there was something important I needed to do. Something I needed my best friend for.

"Oli, are you going to tell me where we are going?" Matty asked. I shook my head.

"No. Just trust me," I said. He sighed.

"If this has something to do with Brodie, then you should have asked Ben and Jordan to come. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love Brodie, but they know her a little better. I mean, they are her best friends," he said. I rolled my eyes.

"For once, will you just stop talking. Ben and Jordan might be Brodie's best friends, but I need my best friend with me today," I said. Matty raised his eye brows at me.

"You mean you actually need me today?" he asked. I slapped him on the shoulder.

"Shut up. Just help me," I said. We walked a little futher down the street until I found what I was looking for.

"Kay's Jewlers?" Matty asked. I said nothing as I pushed open the glass doors and stepped inside. Glamours rings, necklaces, watches and any other sort of sparkly things you wanted greeted us. Matty's face fell open as he whipped around to face me.

"Oli- Are you?" he whispered. I gave him a small smile as we headed over to the ring section. He followed me quietly.

"How may I help you today?" the girl behind the counter asked. I leaned forward and glanced down at the sparkling rings below me.

"Well, I," I started, but i trailed off. To be honest, i had no idea what I was doing. The idea just came to me after Brodie's ultrasound; why not get married? I mean, I had never thought about marriage seriously before. but that was all before I met Brodie. I honestly thought I woudn't ever settle down. But things are differet now. I was going to be a dad. And I loved Brodie more than anything on this earth. And what better way to prove it then asking her to marry me?

"Well, I guess I need a wedding ring," I said. The girl chuckled softly.

"Well then you've come to the right place. I take it this is your first time ring shopping?" she asked. I gave a weak nod. "Well don't worry, we'll find something perfect for her," she said. Before I knew it, we were sitting in a small room with a small black table filled with hundreds of beautiufl rings.

"So, what is your girlfriend like?" the girl. Kourtnee, asked me. I slumped back in my chair and tried to think of the words to describe my Brodie.

"Delicate, but strong willed. She has this simple, yet strikingly beautiful way about her. I don't know how to explain it. She has this way with people. When she's around, people are happier, and calmer," I said, I heard Matty chuckle.

"Brodie's probably the best thing that's happened to my pal here. He could ramble on for days about her," Matty said. Kourtnee smiled again.

"I see. Well, as far as what you are looking for in a ring for Brodie, what are you looking for?" she asked. I gazed down at the rings in confusion. There was so many to chose from. I didn't even know where to start.

"Uh," was all I could muster out. She laughed.

"It's okay. You're probably very over whelmed right now. Marriage is a big deal. It's not something that can be rushed. I'm here to help as much as I can," she said. I let out a little sigh.

"Okay. Well I don't want anything to big and obnoxious. I don't think she would like that," I said.

"And not to many sparkley things," Matty said. I nodded.

"See? This is why I brought you along. You know her better than you think," I said.

"Okay, not to big and not sparkly. Got it," Kourtnee said. With that, half of the rings were gone, much to my relief.

"Now, as far as color, gold, silver, white gold, black gold," she asked. I raised my eye brow.

"Silver," I finally. She smiled.

"To much going on?" she asked. I laughed.

"How do you do it?" Matty asked.

"Practice," she said.

----------------

Ten or so rings remained. I felt like we had been doing this for hours. I was sick of looking at shiny, way over the top rings. Nothing seemed to be right for Brodie. I wanted to find something that would be perfect for her. But we had gone through hundreds of rings. And nothing was right...

"Don't give up, Oliver. If we don't find it today, tomorrow is always a new day," Kourtnee said. I knew she was getting annoyed as well. But I wasn't just going to settle for something that wasn't right for Brodie.

"Okay, this one is a silver leaf and flower ring with one diamond and a few smaller ones placed in the leaves," she said. She opene the tiny black box and placed it in froont of me. It had a small silver flower at the center of it, and the rest of the band was decorated in tiny leaves with diamonds placed inside them.

"Oli," Matty whispered. I nodded and pulled it out of the box. It was tiny and simple, but beautiful all at the same time.

"Oliver, is this the ring you like?" Kourtnee asked quietly. I gave her a small nod.

"Yes. This one is perfect for Brodie," I said. She smiled her relief.

"Well that's great!" she said. I carefully placed the ring back in the box. She took it from me and lead us out of th room. Matty patted me on the back.

"I think she'll love it," he said. I smiled and headed to the counter to pay for it.

"So when are you going to ask her?" he asked. I handed Kourtnee my card as I mulled it over.

"I haven't really decided," I said.

"Well before or after the baby gets here?"

"Before. And we'll have the wedding after she has the baby," I said.

"Well you better get on it buddy," he said. I smiled as thanked Kourtnee again for her help. Matty thanked her by giving her his number, which she didn't seem to mind.

As we walked back home. I thought about marriage. And babies. And Brodie. The thoughts swirled around my head like a whild tordano. What if she said no? What if she didn't want to get married?

"You're doubting yourself now, aren't you?" Matty asked quietly.

"What if she doesn't want to get married?" I asked him quietly. He laughed loudly.

"Are you kidding me? She loves you Oliver. Why wouldn't she want to marry you?" he asked. I shrugged. "She'll say yes," he said. I tried my best to believe him. But I was sscared. I didn't even know how to ask her.

Despite Matty's reassureance all the way home, I was still unsure that I was making the right desicion.
