Aria POV

I dreaded the first day back at school. I've only been back in rosewood for a day and I'm already tired of this place. All my memories good and bad are in this town, and there's some that moving away helped me forget, but as soon as I got home they all came flooding back. My dad took me to school the first day back, and we weren't on the best of terms. I've never fully forgiven him about what he did to my mom but I didn't let it tear our family apart. I decided that it was his responsibility to make things right and not mine, but he never did. We pulled up outside school. "Aria, I love you, you know that right?" He said to me.

"Yeah I know"

"And I love you mom"

"Do you?"

"Aria I made a mistake, one stupid mistake and I have to live with that, but I do love her, more than anyone, I hope that one day you can forgive me"

"Dad I have to go"

I climbed out of the car, and my mood was already bad. I was surrounded by people I hadn't seen for at least a year and I needed a friend, that's when I saw Emily.

"Omg Hi" she said with a smile as she hugged me.

"Emily Hi, it's been so long"

"I know, I barely recognised you, when did you get back?"

"Yesterday"

"Oh right. I think the last time I saw you you had pink stripes in your hair"

"Yeah, well that was a long time ago"

"You should have called it's so weird to run into you here"

"Well, we kind of lost touch em, remember?"

"We had too"

"I saw as poster of Alison yesterday, it's awful"

"Yeah I know she's everywhere, but we all know she's dead right?"

I was surprised by Emily's comment. She was always so hopeful and always saw the best in every situation. We all knew that, but hearing someone say it was different, it sent shivers down my spine and sent my mind wondering with questions. The first bell rang and we went to English. Me and Emily sat near the back next to each other and watched as everyone entered the classroom. I recognise pretty much everyone, but people had changed a lot. It's funny how much people change in a year. Hanna walked into class. She has changed the most out of everyone, she was the new IT girl, the new queen bee, the new Ali.

"Wow Emily is that Hanna"

"Yeah, and that girl next to her, that's Mona"

Loser Mona was now one of the most popular girls in school and was now Hanna's best friend. Spencer hasn't changed much, she just looks smarter, if that's even possible. Our new teacher walked in a started to write his name on the board. I was turning my phone off when he walked in so I didn't see his face at first, but afterwards when he turned round his face was a lot more familiar than I would have liked.

One day earlier

I drove around rosewood waiting for Mike to finish his lacrosse game, seeing if I could spot anything different; nothing, everything was the same. I had 2 hours to kill so I decided to go to the Hollis bar and grill to pass some time. I sat on a stool at the counter and ordered a soda. Behind the counter was a poster of Alison on the wall:

My heart sunk as I thought about what could have happened to her, and whether she was still alive. My hands were shaking until I heard a comforting voice behind me, "are you alright down their?"
The voice took me by surprise but I answered obviously not telling the truth about why my hands were shaking.

"Oh yeah, just abit jet lagged. I just got back from Europe"

"Where in Europe?"

"Iceland"

" i spent some time their, great place"

"So do you go to Hollis?"

"Just graduated. I'm actually going to start my first teaching job"

"Id like to teach one day"

"So what's your major?"

I wanted to tell him the truth about me being in high school, but I thought he would stop talking to me, so I told him It was English.

"No way, that's what I'm teaching" he replied. We talked for ages, about our favourite books, favourite music, about everything. One thing led to another and we ended up making out in the bathroom. I'm not that type of girl, but he was different. Anyways, I never found out his name, I just left and picked Mike up from lacrosse. I was never going to see that guy again and that was okay.

Back to present time

Crap. It's him. It's the bathroom guy, my high school English teacher Mr Ezra Fitz. He looked at me straight away and I could tell he was thinking the same thing as me. Crap. Crap. Crap.

Everyone turned and looked at me. They could obviously tell something was going on. Hanna looked at me a smirked, and so did  Spencer. My phone vibrated and the moment passed which I was glad about. It was so awkward. I was going to have to say something to him at the end of class.

I looked down at my phone, and it was a text message.

Maybe he fools around with his students all the time. A lot of teachers do, just ask you dad - A

I was shocked, and abit freaked out at first and then curious. Was this message from who I thought?Could it really be Alison? She was the only one who knew about my dads affair, I didn't tell anyone else. I flipped my phone down and tried to shake off what had just happened, thinking it must have just been some strange misunderstanding. But for a minute, the thought crossed my mind, was Alison on the other end of this message, and was she back in rosewood? My first day back hadn't started off very well at all.
