Chapter 45

*3 months later (end of summer break)*

Aria POV

"Emily, you can never leave for the whole of summer again" Hanna said. We were all at Spencer's house, listening to music, talking and drinking (a little.) "yeah Em it was way to long" I continued. "You guys it wasn't that long?" She replied whilst taking a sip of her beer.

S:"Em you were gone for two months."

E:"yeah okay I suppose it was quite a while, but I just wanted to get out of this town after the whole...you know thing. I was sick of seeing our faces on the news and hearing people talk about us when we walked past."

"Yeah we know how you feel, but it's over now"

H:"did you all hear about Mona?"

"Yeah"
S:"yeah"
E:"I didn't. What about her"

H:"they put her in Radley. She has personality disorder and shes a 'minor' so she didn't go to jail"

E:"typical"

"she's still locked up, just in a nut house. Anyways who cares about her...we don't need to talk about that. Let's just enjoy tonight"

I held up my cup. "Cheers to us" we all said clinching our cups and drinking. Me, Hanna and Spencer took a sip of of our drink and looked over at Emily. She had downed her whole cup and was poring more. "Wow Em steady. Your already pretty strong." Hanna said with a laugh. "Hey, i got good at this" she said back a little seriously.

We could always tell when Emily had something on her mind. She always tried her best to cover things up but we knew her. We knew when she wanted to say something or wanted t cry or scream. "Em, you okay?" Spencer asked. Emily just shrugged her shoulders and looked away. "Talk to us" Hanna said grabbing her hand. She took a deep breath and looked down at her hand. "It's her birthday on Saturday" she said quietly still looking down. "And I don't just want to act like it isn't, act like it's just a normal day because it isn't. Can we do something, to celebrate. Even though she isn't here, id rather celebrate the life she did have on her birthday than cry into my pillow. It doesn't even have to be anything big i just..." Emily spoke softly and quietly. Her voice shook as she spoke to us. "Of course we can Emily! What should we do?" Hanna said happily trying to lighten the mood.

E:"well she always loved that little Italian place in town. We could grab takeout go back to my house. sorry Hanna's house, and just talk and stuff"

S:"that sounds like an awesome idea Em"

E:"great, thank you guys so much"

*Saturday*

Hanna POV

I woke up and went into Emily's room. I knew this was going to be a hard day for her, so I wanted to make sure she was okay. I opened up her door as I knocked quietly and walked in. "Hey" I said softly.
"Hi" she said kind of happily actually. "Are you okay?" I asked not knowing whether it was the right question to say or not. "Yeah, I actually am. I miss her, and I wish she was here with me on her birthday, but I want her to know that I'm okay. I know it sounds stupid but... anyways I've decided im not going to be sad today. I'm going to celebrate every time we spent together and be happy. I know that's what she would want me to do"

"Your the strongest person I know Emily fields" I said giving her a hug. We parted and then there was a knock on the door. "Who could that be?" I asked wondering as it was early and we weren't expecting anyone. I walked downstairs and Emily followed behind me. I opened the door and spencer barged in. "Hey" she said in a rush and then walked into the kitchen. "Good morning how are you?" I said sarcastically as we followed behind her. "Aria is on her way" she said. "Sorry to do this today Em but I think it's important" she said as she put her bag on the table. "Are you okay?" She said giving Em a hug. Emily nodded and spencer continued pacing around. "Spencer what the hell is going on?" I said impatiently and worried. We hadn't had one of these nervous moments since A so it kind of made us uneasy. Spencer didn't speak she just gave us a look. Then aria walked in. "Okay why did I get an SOS, what's happening?" She said in a panicky voice. "Ask Spencer she's the one who's freak us all out?" Emily replied. Then spencer finally spoke. "Okay okay, so i have something to tell you guys" she said nervously. "What" we all replied in unison.
