Spencer POV

So Emily told us about what happened with Ben and Toby today. I can't believe he's back. And the fact that he saved Emily made me confused the most. We ruined his life. Toby was the one who was blamed for the Jenna thing. He new it was us, but he never said anything.

That night when it happened, before Toby was arrested, him and Alison had a very heated conversation. She must of had something on him, but I wasn't quite sure what it was. Toby was sent to a juvenile correction centre for a year; a year of his life paying for something that he didn't even do. I thought about how angry that would make me if I was in position. I felt guilty and I felt the need to apologise. But I didn't really know how to approach him, I thought about everything I could do to try and talk to him but I couldn't think of anything. I slept and woke up the next day for school.

I met up with the girls at the front gate and we walked into school together. That's when I saw a poster on the wall. It was an opening for a French tutor for a student who hadn't been at school for a year; Toby Cavanaugh. I stopped and took it down off the wall as the girls walked on. They all turned to see why I'd stopped.

A:"coming Spence?"

"Yeah." I replied whilst I shoved the poster in my bag. The first 3 lessons of the day were really boring; English, Spanish and biology. At dinner I went to the vice principals office and asked about the tutoring for Toby. He was surprised that I was offering. He said no one had come forward because of Toby's troubled past, but he was glad someone was 'brave' enough to volunteer. I felt bad for Toby. He handed me some books and assignments and said I would be tutoring him every Tuesday for an hour after school.

VP:"I'll call to let him know your coming"

"No...I'll do it, I'll let him know"

VP:"oh Kay then. Thank you Spencer"

I smiled, and walked out. I wasn't going to tell Toby it was me tutoring him. I thought it would be harder for him to say no if it was in person. I met the girls for lunch and had two more lessons after that. I tried to think about what I was going to say. The day flew by and I drove to Toby's house.

I reached his door and rang the doorbell. There was no answer, so I rang again. He answered the door clearly not wanting too. He looked at me and then tried to close the door. I pushed my hand against it and he sighed. "Toby, please just talk to me. Please."

He came outside and we sat on the step on the porch. Jenna was inside so we kept quiet. "Toby. I'm so sorry for what we did to you. You didn't deserve to go through what you went through and part of that was because of me. You don't know how sorry I am. Really"

"It wasn't so much you. It was Alison. You know, I never really understood why you guys were girls were friends with her. Especially you. You were clearly not scared of her, yet you still let her play games and manipulate you guys."

"She made us feel special. Alison was a great friend when she wanted to be. Most people didn't see that side of her"

"Yeah, well I definitely didn't. So are you here to tutor me?"

"Yeah, if that's okay?"

"I'd like that."

We sat on his porch for an hour and I started teaching him. I'd never really spoken to Toby before. He was always abit weird, and he was one of those people you just stay away from. But sitting on that porch talking to him, I realised I should have given him a chance a long time ago.
