Chapter 28

Emily POV

It was the day after our message from A on Spencer's mirror and me, Aria and Spencer were sat in the courtyard at school.

"Did any of you guys sleep last night? Because I didn't"

S:"I don't think any of us did Em. I was too freaked out to even close my eyes for a second."

A:"when are we going to go to the police about Ian? I can't take this much longer you guys."

S:"what about tonight? Even though we can't prove Ian is A, he can still go down for those videos we have."

We decided that we were all going to go to the cops at 8 that night and try and end this after all. We were all sat just thinking when Hanna walked over with a huge smile on her face. We all just looked at her and waited for her to speak.

H:"what? What are you looking at? Omg do I have something in my teeth?"

A:"No, we are just curious as to why you are smiling so much"

H:"Prom! I can't believe you guys forgot. It's prom next week! How exciting"

"sorry Hanna, we were kind of busy trying to figure out who are psycho stalker is!"

She just glared at me and rolled her eyes.

"Well, I'm not going anyways so..."

H:"Emilyyyyyyy, you have to come, it's senior prom come on! You guys are coming right?"

Aria and Spencer just sat there quietly.

H;"you guys please! You have to come! It's prommmmmm"

A:"I suppose I could come, but only for a little while"

H:"yes Aria, that's more like it! Spencer?"

S:"eugh, fine I'll come too"

H:"yes! Em?"

"I don't know Hanna! Maya's just left, and I'm not really in the party mood"

H: "pleaseeeeee?"

She begged at me as she looked at me with wide eyes. I finally gave in and told her I would go. "Yay" she yelled as we all smiled at her excitement. "I don't have a dress" I said.

S:"yeah, me neither"

H:"aria do you?"

Aria shook her head answering Hannah question. "Well neither do I so we can all go dress shopping together." As we all agreed she smirked, clearly proud of herself for convincing us to come. Then Caleb walked over. He was a new kid at school and I heard he was good with computers and hacking. Earlier that day I'd asked him to find a phone number for true north (which was harder than you'd think. I tried myself) where Maya was, and block my phone so no one could see I was calling. "I found the number"

"Thank you so much! Did you block the phone too?"

"It's going to cost you more for that"

I pulled out a twenty dollar bill and handed it to him. "I'll be back" he said bluntly and walked away.

H:"Emily, who is that? And why are you giving him money"

A:"yeah Em that guy looks sketchy"

"He's hacking into True North and blocking my phone so I can talk to Maya without anyone knowing. She has a phone in her room, but only her Mom and Dad are given the number. Caleb's getting for me"

H:"how much money did you pay him Em?"

"40 dollars a first and then 20 just then, but I don't care"

H:"you gave him 60 dollars? No way that's not happening"

"Han-" I started but stopped as she stormed away. What on earth was she going to do?

Hanna POV

This guy-Caleb or whatever was totally scamming Emily and I wasn't having any of it. I stormed over to him ready to give him a mouthful. "Hey, you! My friend Emily is hurting right now. Her girlfriend just got shipped off to rehab 300 miles away because of her mom. She hasn't spoken to her in a week and she asked you for help. You not only charged her a ridiculous amount of money in the first place, but you asked her for more. Don't be an idiot and use people just because they have money because that's a really dick move and no one likes a person like that."

"Wow lady chill."

I stared at him angrily as he looked back at me. You could see he thought I was crazy. I held out my hand a waited for him to give me back Emily's phone and the extra money she gave him. He rolled his eyes at me, realising I wasn't going to leave him alone until he gave me what I wanted, and reached into his pocket. "Tell her the numbers on speed dial and no one will know she's calling."

"Thanks" I replied sarcastically as I walked away.

Emily POV

I sat wondering what on earth Hanna was going to say to Caleb. Just as I was about to get up and find her she came strutting outside with a huge smirk on her face. "There you go Em" she said as she put my phone and a twenty on the table. "He said the numbers on speed dial and no one will know it's you calling"

"Hanna, Thankyou so much. How did y-"

"That doesn't matter. Now go talk to your girlfriend for gods sakes"

I smiled at her and stood up and walked to the wall. I found the number in my phone and called it straight away. It rang for a few seconds and then I heard her voice. "Hey mom" she said softly. It made me smile and feel all warm inside. "Hey Maya"

"Emily is that you?"

"Yeah it's me"

"You have no idea how good it is to here your voice Em. I miss you so much"

"I miss you so much too Maya! What's it like there?"

"It's great Emily! It's nothing like what I thought it would be, there's so many cool things here"

"Oh...erm....well I'm glad your having a good time"

"Em, I've gotta go. Love you"

"Love you t-"

I was cut off by a loud beep on the other line. I felt weird and I didn't really know why. I walked back over to the girls sat at the table. They were all smiling at me till I sat down. "Em, is everything okay?" Aria asked sympathetically. "Yeah, everything's better than okay apparently everything's great"

H:"Emily, it's okay to feel the way your feeling. You want her to be happy but you also want her to be here"

"Yeah it's just...she doesn't seem to miss me as much as I miss her you know. Like everything I do now is just to try and take my mind off her, and it's just...I don't know I just feel weird"

S:"it's okay Emily. Long distance is hard but once she is back everything will be fine and this weird feeling you have will go away"

"Yeah I guess. Thanks anyways Hanna. I really appreciate what you did for me!"

H:"Of course Em! Now when are we going dress shopping?"

A:"Well we could go before we go to the station tonight, right?"

"That's fine with me" Hanna and I said.

S:"I'm tutoring till 5 but I can do after that"

H:"oh is that Toby your tutoring Spencer?"

S:"yes Hanna. It is Toby, but we are just friends."

"Hmmmm okay, whatever you say spencer"

We all laughed and smirked as the bell went, and made our way to our last period of the day.

"See you guys tonight" I said walking away.
