Aria POV

It was the night of prom and I had about 4 hours before i needed to leave. Emily was picking me up, with Hanna as we were all going stag, and Spencer was meeting us there with Toby. Honestly though, I wasn't really in the mood for going. I saw someone today, that I did not want to see.

*flashback to the morning of that day*
My Mom, Dad and I were sat talking at the brew. "Who wants to share a muffin?" My mom asked.
"I will" I replied smiling as she got up and walked away. "So I've heard you like your new English teacher?"

"What?" I immediately asked as my heart started racing.

"Is he a good teacher, yes?"

"Oh yeah he's a great teacher, I like him a lot actually!"

"Good"

Then he looked past me and smiled at someone who was behind me. I turned around to see who it was, and over there, walking towards us, was Meredith. The women my dad had an affair with. She got to our table with a beaming smile and started talking. "Byron, hello! I was actually going to find you at work today, I have something for you to sign" she reached in her purse and pulled out a letter and a pen. "Oh, hello, I'm Meredith, you must be Aria, Byrons daughter?"

"Yeah" I said sternly at her.

"Here you go" my dad said as he handed the letter to her and they smiled at each other. It made me feel sick.

She walked away, and waved when she reached her car. "What the hell dad? Why is she talking to you!"

"She's a teacher at Hollis now. I work with her I can't freeze her out Aria"

"Well you don't have to act all smily though"

"Aria just lis-"

He stopped talking because my mom came back and o think she noticed something was wrong. "Are you two okay?" She asked confused. "Oh yeah yeah we are great" my dad replied to her kissing her in the cheek. I wasn't fine so I just smiled and ate my muffin. I hated that my mom still didn't know what happened last year.

*end of flashback"

I sat on my bed and moped around before telling myself to snap out of it and do what's right. I went downstairs to see my Mom cooking dinner in the kitchen. "Mom can I tell you something" I asked as she nodded still looking down at the food she was chopping on the kitchen counter. I was just about to tell her what I knew when I caught a glimpse of a family photo that we took back in Iceland. We were so happy. My Mom and Dad were so happy to be together. Suddenly after seeing that photo my courage to tell her disappeared. I was snapped out of my thoughts when my mom started talking. "Aria are you okay??" I couldn't tell her, not yet, not like this.

"Can I have a carrot?" I asked as it was the first thing that popped into my head.

"Sure" she asked clearly confused as I grabbed a carrot and ran upstairs before she could really ask me what was wrong. I felt really bad keeping a secret from her but this secret I wasn't ready to tell.

Hanna POV

Tonight was prom and I was so excited. There was about 3 hours until I was picking Aria and Emily up to go. We were all going stag. In a way I wished I did have a date, but also I liked being single.
Emily, well I don't really know if Emily's single or not, she's going through a hard time lately. And Aria, I seeing mr Fitz, which I still thought was a little weird, but she seemed to really like him so...but obviously she can't go to prom with him, so we are all going stag together.

I couldn't wait to put on my makeup and wear my dress. I love proms and dances and parties.
