Chapter 23

Spencer POV

So Aria got another message from A today, which kind of made me wonder when my next one would be and what it would be about. Whenever my phone buzzed I felt nervous and scared. We had to figure out who this person was and why they were doing this to us?

I opened up my laptop and watch the video A sent us over and over again. I studied every word and every movement to see if i could get any more answers, but I got nothing. I was half way through my 1863927 viewing of it when the back door opened. I heard Melissa with some guy but I didn't really pay attention to who it was. I just assumed it was someone she'd picked up whilst she was working in Italy but it wasn't. When they walked round the corner, I saw who he was; it was Ian. My heart dropped as I just stared right at him.

I:"Spencer, is everything okay?"

"Oh erm yeah, just surprised to see you that's all. Mom said you were away with work in Italy"

M:"yeah I lied. And I have some big news"

She turned to Ian and put her had on his chest as he looked down at her.

"We're Married" they both said in unison. My jaw dropped and I just sat staring at her ring in silence. I couldn't believe it. She was engaged to Wren a month ago, and now she married to a completely different person, and that person could be the killer of my best friend. "Gosh, Spencer I thought you'd at least be a little happy for us" Melissa said.

"Oh yeah congratulations"

M:"Thank you. But that's not the only news we have...we're having a baby"

"Oh...wow Melissa that's great"

M:"I know! So Ian's going to be moving into the barn tomorrow"

I:"don't worry, you won't even know I'm here."

They both turned and walked out smiling and I started to panic. My breaths were getting faster and shorter and I didn't know what to do. I called the girls and asked if we could meet at one of there houses, Emily offered because her Mom was away with work. About ten minutes later we were all together and I had calmed down a little.

A:"okay Spencer, what's wrong?"

"Everything's wrong. The man who could have killed my best friend is now living in my house, and he's now my brother-in-law and the father of my soon to be niece or nephew and on top of all of that we are still getting tortured by A and we still have no freaking idea who it is? You guys I feel like I can't trust anyone now. The secrets and the lies are to hard to handle and I can't take it anymore I can't take it!" I screamed as tears rolled down my face. I tried to keep it cool, and I had been since this while nightmare started but tonight I was just tipped over the edge and I couldn't hold back. Emily walked over to me and just look at me. She grabbed my hand and wiped my tears, then she hugged me and I cried more and more. Aria and Hanna came over and joined in our hug and we all cried together. I was so lucky to have friends like these three girls. They were my world and the fact that someone was hurting them and me, made me so angry. After our emotional moments we all decided we needed a plan to get more answers. We started with a plan to figure out how and why Ian was involved in this, and if he was or new A.

H:"Didn't you say Ian was moving into the barn?"

"Yeah?"

H:"well that means there will be boxes right? And those boxes will be full of Ian's things, I'm betting that's our best shot at getting answers"

A:"yeah Han that's a great idea, but how are we going to have enough time to look through everything without him knowing?"

"Oh that's easy. Melissa and Ian have been going out for dinners and movies and plays every night since they've been married. Once they leave I'll text you guys and we can look through them. It'll be quicker if we all do it together"

E:"it's a plan. But I won't be able to make it till after about 8 o'clock. I have a date with Maya"

The smile that beamed across her face when she said Mayas name was amazing. Me, Aria and Hanna all looked and smiled at each other.

E:"what?" No one replied we just kept smiling at each other. "You guys what?"

"It's just, you seem really happy Em, and that makes us happy"

E:"oh...yeah I'm so happy you guys, like you have no idea how good it feels when I'm with her"

H:"Eugh, I would kill to have that feeling. Ever since me and Shaun broke up I haven't even been on one date"

A:"it's okay Han. The perfect guy is out there for you, I know it. Em, I know that feeling your talking about. I'm really happy too."

E:"what about you Spencer?"

S:"oh no. Just me. I'm not really looking for anything right now"

H:"Your such a liar Spencer Hastings. I've seen the look you and Toby Cavanaugh give each other in the corridors at school. I don't know about you but he definitely has the hots for you!"

"HANNA" I yelled whilst blushing and throwing a pillow in her direction. We all laughed and just talked about pointless things, like we used to before...you know. We were all free for those few hours in Emily's room, not thinking about anything bad.

We all stayed over at Emily's that night as we lost track of time and then we went home early the next morning to get ready before school started. I walked through the back door Into the kitchen and saw Ian's boxes all across the living room. Tonight we had to get some answers and this was a great place to start.
