Emily POV
I sat up for the rest of that night, trying to think of every explanation I could for what I'd read on her phone. My alarm went off for school at 7:00am. I went down stairs as soon as it sounded. I was sat at my kitchen counter drinking my coffee when she came downstairs.
"Good morning babe" she said cheerfully, whilst hugging me.
"Morning" I replied bluntly which prompted her to let go.
"What's wrong?" She then asked.
"Oh nothing." My sarcasm must have been obvious because she asked me again. "Emily, what's wrong? I know there's something wrong"
"I just don't like being lied to that's all"
She paused for a moment. I think she was trying to figure out what I was talking about because she had a confused look on her face.
"Maya, who's Lyndon?" I asked sternly looking at her. She looked down at her hands and sighed. She still didn't say anything. "I picked up your phone to turn it off last night and I saw that he message you saying he loved you. Who is he Maya?"
"He's just this guy I dated at true north"
"Just this guy? Why didn't you tell me?" I shouted.
"I didn't think it was important"
"Oh so when I asked you if you had anything important to tell me you didn't think it was a good time to. I thought we told each other everything. How could you keep something like this from me?"
"Emily is it the fact that dated someone else that bothers you so much, or the fact that I dated a guy?"
I ignored her question.
"Did you love him?"
"No of course I didn't love him"
"Well he seems to love you"
"Emily, he doesn't mean anything to me, you know how much I love you"
I paused for a few seconds and just looked at her. Then I went upstairs and started getting ready for school. I felt so annoyed that she didn't tell me.
I heard the front door close about ten minutes later. Then once I was ready and downstairs I noticed a note on the table.
Had to go early for band practice. We'll talk tonight. I'm sorry. I love you -Maya
I sighed and put the note back on the table and made my way to school.
Hanna POV
I wondered round the courtyard at lunchtime looking for the girls and I noticed Caleb scavenging through the trash can. "What's this?" I asked him pointing to what he was doing. "My eviction notice" he replies sighing.
"Oh."
"Yeah, someone must have found my things"
"Well I have a basement, that has a pretty comfortable couch and a bathroom, if you want it?"
"Really? I thought you hated me"
"Yeah. No I don't hate you, we just got off on the wrong foot"
"Well I might take you up on that offer"
"Okay great. My mom finishes work and 8 and she's usually in bed by 9 so I'll text you my address and you can come after that"
