Spencer POV
Me, Aria and Hanna started opening Ian's boxes. We heard the laughs and the cries of Emily and Maya upstairs. We were so glad they got a chance to say goodbye to each other, but it was still sad. Emily was so happy, which was so obvious, but because of her mom, Maya was leaving and I already knew that was breaking her heart.
There's was about 15 boxes full of Ian's things in my living room. We had about 3 hours to get through everything before Melissa and Ian would be back, so we had to get a move on. I started with a big box and so did Aria, but Hanna being Hanna picked the smallest box in the whole room. "I see you've picked the smallest boxes there is Han" I said rolling my eyes at her.
"Well, you know what they say. Good things come in small packages"
We all just stared at her for a few seconds before laughing. Hanna always made us laugh. Never intentionally, just the way she says things always makes me smile. I looked through the first box, that was just full of lacrosse trophies and comic books and Arias box was full of video games. "This is all just useless crap. Spencer how is this going to help us get answers?" Aria said.
"Aria, we've only been through one box. I promise you will will find something, okay?"
She nodded her head at me and then reached for another box that was beside her. She started opening it up as Emily and Maya walked down the stairs holding hands. They both had smudged lipstick and mascara running down their cheeks. They both looked heartbroken. "Thank you guys so much for tonight! It was perfect and you don't know how grateful we are" Maya said.
"Oh, of course. We couldn't let you leave without saying goodbye to Emily"
Em smiled at me as tears ran down her face. Maya hugged us all and said goodbye. We were all crying. Maya was a wonderful person, who lit up a room when she walked in. Her vibe was so positive and I loved how happy she made Emily. Having to say goodbye to her was hard for me, so I couldn't even begin to imagine how Emily felt right now. Once we all said goodbye Emily and Maya walked outside and said goodbye to each other on the porch at the back door. We looked away, to give them privacy and continued opening the boxes.
Emily POV
"I don't even know how to start" Maya said to me softly as tears rolled down her face. "Emily Fields, you have no idea how much you mean to me and how much I am going to miss you. You make my world a better place and you never fail to make me smile. I can trust you with anything and my love for you grows stronger and stronger every day. Whatever happens to us, I will always love you, know matter what." She grabbed my hands and pulled me closer to her.
"Maya, im so sorry this is happening. I love you so so so so so so so much and o can't believe you have to go away because of me. I will miss you so much and I will think about you every second of every day. You are the person I love the most in this whole entire world and not being able to see you for five months kills me. I love you so much Maya!" I hugged her tight and then broke away and stared deep into her eyes, as I cried uncontrollably.
"Don't cry"she whispered as she kissed me. "I love you" she then said as she let go of me. She turned around and started to walk away. "Maya...I...I-"
"I know you do Emily" she replied at my failed attempted to tell he something she clearly already knew. I then watched her as she turned and walked away from me. I swear I could feel my heart breaking ever step she took further away from me. I watched her walk away until I could no longer see her anymore. I wiped away my tears and walked back inside Spencer's house. I closed the door behind me and then leaned up against it. I closed my eyes and just didn't say anything, but I knew they were all looking at me. I heard them walking towards me. They all hugged me at once and I felt a little better. "Thank you guys so much for tonight. I love you all so much" I said in between my short breaths. I finally pulled myself together and let go of them.
Now we needed to start finding clues about who A is. I poured myself and everyone some coffee, mainly to help myself feel more alive after all the crying I'd been doing. I grabbed a box and stared unpacking it. I was half way through looking through a pile of photos from Ian's college years when Hanna said something. "Hey Spence, what's N.A.T club?"
S:"I don't know, I've never heard of that. And I know every club. Where does it say that?"
H:"well I was just looking through this year book and underneath Ian's name it said N.A.T club and I just wondered what it meant"
A:"who else was in this club?"
Hanna flipped through the pages quickly, scanning her finger across everyone's picture until she stopped and gasped.
"Hanna, what is it?"
H:"you guys, Jason Dilaurentis and Garrett Reynolds were in this club too"
"oh how convenient, 2 people who hated Alison, in a club together, that doesn't seem suspicious at all" I said sarcastically. We still had no idea what N.A.T meant so we grabbed all the other year books and tried to find anything else about it. Aria found something. "Guys look!" She yelled pointing to a picture of the three guys. They were all wearing navy coloured shirts with 'Nos Animadverto Totus' printed on the front. Spencer's, obviously being spencer knew what it meant straight away.
S:"We see all?" She said confused.
A:"what the hell does that mean?"
"Wait...might this help?" I said holding up a video camera with N.A.T club labelled on the side of it.
Spencer took the memory stick from the camera and plugged it into her computer. Luckily we didn't have school tomorrow because the drive said it had 13 hours worth of data stored on it. Tonight was going to be a long night.
