Chapter 11
Clyde's pov
I shuffled through the hallway, trying to put my books in my locker. God, I HATE school. I gather my things from my locker, and start walking to my next class.
Halfway through the long, busy hallway some girl tightly grabs my arm.
A wild angry Brianna appears, what do you do?
•Yell
•Cuss
•Ask what's up
•do nothing
I decide to ask her why she's mad, but it doesn't work too well. "What do you mean why am I mad?! Its all your fucking fault, you greedy bitch!" she screams punching me square in the face. I bring my hand to my face, only to feel the thick blood beginning to trickle down my nose.
Oh now I'm pissed.
I quickly punch her in the stomach followed by a punch to the face. Brianna stumbles backwards and wipes the blood from the corner of her mouth.
"What the hell is your problem Brianna?! I didn't do anything to you!" I yell at Brianna. She starts to get up and looks at me. "Drew broke up with me because he said he's in love with you!" I gasped, and in my moment of vulnerability Brianna tackles me and starts continuously punching my face. "I. Fucking. Hate. you." she says in between punches. I try pushing her, but she has too good of a hold on me.
I finally get out of her killer hold, and lay a bunch of punches on her. I go into a rage and can't find the will to stop beating her. Every shred of anger and rage goes into each punch I put onto Brianna's face. Finally, someone pulls me off her and starts whispering in my ear. "Clyde, you need to stop. I think she's had enough." I don't want to stop, she needs to be punished for trying to mess with me.
I get one last kick in before I'm pulled over somebody's shoulder. Kicking and screaming, I try helplessly to free my self. Then the mystery guy puts me down.
Oh it's Max.
"You kick really hard." he says smirking. I smile and kick him in the shin. "You're lucky none of the teachers caught you. I'm surprised the didn't, you guys were pretty loud." Max said looking at me. I turned away, I didn't want to look at his almost parental stare. "I don't care." I say carelessly. "Clyde, what happened? Why'd you beat her up?" Max asked reaching for my hand. When I pulled it away, a crestfallen look engulfed his face. "She said Drew broke up with her, and that it was my fault." I frowned.
I didn't know why she would think that. I've grown to like Drew, but haven't acted out on it.
Oh shit.
The kiss.
"Why would Brianna think that?" Max asked obviously puzzled. I don't want to lie to him, but I can't think of any better options right now. "I-I don't know." I stuttered.
Max narrowed his eyes at me, "Are you sure?" he asked. "Yep." I said popping the 'p'. I tried to avoid eye contact because if he saw me then I feel like he would know. He nodded, "Okay then, if you say so. Lets go get you some ice for those bruises."
Max took me to his house, where he grabbed my hand and led me to his kitchen. He then pulled out a plastic bag and started stuffing ice in it. "Here." Max said, offering me the bag. I placed it on my forehead where the bruises were.
He stared deep into my eyes and I looked back into his. His eyes started closing, and his face was getting closer to mine.
Before our lips could touch, I places my free hand over his mouth. "Wait." I spoke softly. "What?" he asked confused. "I need to tell you something." I said looking down. "When I said I didn't know why Brianna was mad, I really did know. I just didn't want to tell you." I continued, still looking down. "What did you do?" Max said emotionless. "I kissed Drew."
Max's expression grew dark and he turned away. I started tearing up, I didn't want to lose him when I just got him.
"I'm sorry, I just-" "You just what Clyde? You kissed the guy who deserted you? You betrayed the guy who's been by your side since the incident?" He said angrily. That's when I broke, I started to cry and apologize, trying everything, anything, to make it better. "Clyde I don't want your fucking apologies, just get out!" Max yelled.
I just wanted to forget this, and lately there's only been one way where I can just forget. It was only two in the afternoon so the bar didn't have very many customers. "What brings you here darlin'?" asked a middle aged man. "Something strong." I answered curtly. He started to chuckle, "Aren't we all?" I stayed silent not amused. "Surprise me" I said sliding him my fake id. He nodded and gave me small glass filled with a brown liquid. "It's on me." said a built guy looking like he was in his early twenties. "uh thanks." I mumbled. "What's a pretty girl like you, doing in a dump like this?" He asked, pushing my hair behind me ear. I shrugged.
Many drinks later, I'm almost knocked out, but I'm still hanging in there. The hot guy is saying something but I can't make it out so I just smile, giggle, nod, and repeat.
He tries to help me out of the bar, but I'm too wasted I function. I take a final swig, and collapse to the floor.
