Chapter 16
Drew's povAll I can think about is Clyde. Her eyes, face, smile, laugh, and even that little snort she does when she laughs really hard. I know it sounds typical, but I really do love her. I've loved her for a while now, and I'd do anything to get her to be mine. I'm done with sitting around, watching my life go on with out me, it's time to fight for what I want.
I could've had her, but I was stupid and shy. I didn't know that I wouldn't have her for much longer.
*flashback*
"Clyde c'mon you're taking forever!" I yelled waiting for Clyde. She had been in her room getting ready for hours. We would so be late to the dance. My first dance of high school and I was going to be late. I liked being to events ten minutes early, but I guess that's not going to happen.
The door finally opened. Finally. Clyde stepped out wearing a short pink dress. She looked beautiful. I think I stared at her for probably five minutes. "Do I look that bad? Maybe I should go change." She said going back into her room. "No, it's not that. You just look extremely gorgeous." I said still in awe.
"You're welcome baby brother, I made sure her makeup was perfect just for you." Kira said stepping out. My older sister thought Clyde and I were destined to be together, but Clyde doesn't like me like that. She's so clueless when it comes to boys, Clyde I mean. "You can smear her lipstick if you want to though." Kira said walking towards the stairs. Clyde blushed, and my mouth hung open. Did she really just say that?
It was really awkward for a couple I moments. "So.. um.. are you ready?" I asked, taking sudden interest in my shoelaces. "Uh yea." She replied.
I intended to make this night memorable. Kira drove us to our school, with just enough time to spare. We took our picture and went to the dance.
The first few dances were upbeat, but then it changed to slow dances. I was nervous, and I didn't know where to put my hands but Clyde helped me out. We were really comfortable dancing together, it was nice.
I went to to the bathroom real quick, and came back to find Clyde slow dancing with someone else. Not that we were dating or anything, but it did sting a little. I've always seen that guy around, and he was nothing but trouble. I think his name started with a m, like Mark or something. Maybe it was Max, i don't really care though. They both looked extremely comfortable with each other, and I didn't really like that.
I decided to go take a walk, and try to calm myself down. I heard the party music blaring from inside the gym. I wanted to go back inside and punch that guy in the face. He's always had an eye for Clyde, but she never noticed.
The end of the dance was nearing and I was sitting outside thinking. Deep in thought, I didn't notice the small frame next to me.
"I was worried you know." Clyde said taking me out of thought. I stayed silent, trying not to explode with anger. "I spent the whole night looking for you." She said taking my hand. "Why? This was our first dance and I ruined it with my jealousy." I said keeping an intent gaze on the grass in front if me. "Jealous of what? What do you have to be jealous of?" She asked. "All the other guys who think you're pretty too." I said finally looking up to her face. "Drew if you're talking about Max, he's just a guy who I just met, and just wanted a dance." She said trying to reassure me.
Clyde got up and let go of my hand. "And Drew, I don't care about other guys I only care about you.
*end of flashback*
I have to win Clyde back no matter the circumstances. I shouldn't have let her go in the first place.
