"I can't believe my baby girl is starting college." I blush. "Oh, come on, Daddy."
My name is Julie Thomas and I'm headed to NYU to study psychology. I'm leaving my dad behind in Texas, so of course he's going to be heart broke. My best friend, Andrew Blake, but everyone calls him Andy, is going to the same college. My boyfriend, and first love, Blake Miller, will also be attending NYU with us. This is going to be a great four years, I can already tell.
"Sorry to be rude, but we have to go if we want to make it on time." Andy states.
"I'm sorry for holding y'all up, but my baby girl is leaving for college. As well as the son I wish I had."
I'm not the least bit offended because Andy has always been like a brother to me.
Andy replies, "No problem, Daniel. You've been more of a father to me than my own, and for that I am grateful."
"I was honored to have the privelage, son. Now before I cry anymore, you guys get out of here and be safe." He turns to me. "I want you to call or text me any chance you get. Do you hear me?"
"Yes Daddy," I reply.
With that he waves us off to our future.
