"Oi Remi! We leave in half an hour, so you need to get up now!" With a start, I realise who it is that's calling.

"Dammit, Everett. Why won't you let me sleep?" I yell back, not bothering to hide the annoyance in my voice.

But then his head suddenly pops through my doorway, and while his eyes are bright, his hair is still a tousled mess on his head, showing he hasn't been up long yet either. Taking in my prone form still snuggled in under the covers, he shakes his head with a laugh, "I'm just being responsible. You know you have to get up now right? Your adventure course thingy starts today!" Feigning excitement, he decides that it's appropriate to do a celebratory dance around my room.

Groaning, I slowly arch my back and stretch, "What? That's today already? I haven't even packed yet." I trail off - Come to think of it, there had been this niggly thought in the back of my head that there was something I was supposed to do but I just never really got around to doing. Ooops.

Ev chuckles when he sees the guilty expression on my face, "I thought that might be the case. After all, I know how scatterbrained you can be on occasion. So because I am the most amazing brother ever, I packed for you!"

Suspiciously, my eyes instantly narrow into thin slits, "You." I point my finger at him, "Packed my stuff. For me?"

Nodding cheerfully, he holds up my duffel bag, and true to his word, it looks as though it has been messily stuffed full with my clothes. "Wait. Hang on a sec. Ev, why do you want me to leave so badly in the first place? What's in it for you?"

"Well, my dearest sister -" he starts,

"Only sister,"

He waves me off as though I hadn't just interrupted him and continues, "Well since you're not going to be here and the parents are off on their annual anniversary holiday, I will finally be home alone."

My forehead scrunches with confusion. "So? What's that got to do with anything?"

"Looks like someone isn't very quick on the uptake today," He pats the top of my head condescendingly. "Obviously, it means I can throw a party!" Then proceeds to start dancing around my room. Again. Alright then. My brother is weird. It's official. Tell the world.

Maybe he got dropped on the head as a baby? I sit and ponder the thought for a moment, then shrug, as to be honest, the answer to that is most likely.

Laughing at his antics, I throw my duvet off, "You can get out now Ev I'm up."

"Fine, but you only have 20 minutes to get ready now," He says and waltzes out of my room.

Stumbling over to my closet, still half asleep, I quickly get dressed, almost tripping over my own feet while pulling on some leggings in my haste. Turning my attention to my hair, I start untangling my messy bed head until it looks remotely presentable and then splash my face with cold water, hoping it will help wake me up.

Once that's done, I tip all the contents back out of the bag my brother had packed. 'Huh' I muse as I sift through the pile of my belongings. He hasn't actually done too badly.

Adding a couple missing bits and stuffing everything back into the bag; I grab my sneakers and tramping boots before sprinting towards the door. I make it a solid five steps before coming to a sliding stop at the kitchen to make a short detour. I grab an apple, a pot of yogurt and a handful of dried dates. Taking one last look around, I'm out the front door, locking it behind me and then over to Ev's truck. Chucking the bag through the open window onto the back seat, I hop in the passenger side and slam the door shut.

After a quick glance down at his watch, Ev starts the engine pulling out from the curb while I reach across the console and turn up the radio. Immediately, Ev starts singing along, shaking his head to the music like a professional diva.
