Niall is blind and Liam doesn't see why it's a big deal.

The view I have of the world is a lot different than others. There is no color, not even white or grey, in my view of the world. All I see is black.
I am blind.
Ok, I guess I don’t really have any view of the world. I don’t know what the world looks like, I don’t know colors, and I don’t know what emotions look like. It’s not as bad as it sounds though. I was born blind, so I never got to experience any of those things anyway.
Sure, some days I wish I had sight. I want to know what my mom looks like, what the color blue like, I want to be able to see the stars at night.
Not being able to see doesn’t bother me all that much still. I’ve grown up no being able to see, I don’t even see me being blind as a handicap anymore, it’s a part of who I am. And I am quite happy with my life.
And then high school happened.
It was my fault really. I had the option to remain home schooled. I was just so tired of it though. It was my sophomore year and I wanted to experience the full high school package. I wanted to make friends, get invited to parties, date, have sex, get drunk, be rebel; I wanted to do it all. I wasn’t going to be able to get that experience if I was home schooled.
It took a lot of convincing from my parents. They were none too happy to hear about the idea. It terrified them.
You’re our little baby and you can’t see anything. What if people start making fun of you? What if you get lost? What if you get hurt? We wouldn’t be there to protect you.
That was only some of the things they had to say on the matter. My brother is the one that actually managed to convince them. He said this would be good for me, that it will prepare me for the real world. Plus, he mentioned that we could always get someone to guide me around the school until I got comfortable with the place.
And that was exactly what they did. On my first day of school, my parents made sure I had my cane, dropped me off at the school, waited with me until my guide came and then they unwillingly left.
My parents had told me the night before that one of my dad’s coworker’s sons will be my guide. They also told me that his name is Liam Payne and that he a student at the high school I am attending. My parents also told me that they matched up most of my classes with his, so there would be no problem in him showing me around.
