Allie
North and I walk into a dimly lit diner. It's really cold in here and it feels good.
North's attitude is worrying me a little bit. She seems really off and pale, but maybe she just needs food in her system like I do.
She's in a black pencil skirt and a button down white shirt. Super formal, but always super sexy.
We immediately get seated in a red booth toward the back of this large rectangular place. It's pretty empty in here. There's a nice long counter top with spin around seats beside the lines of booths. You can see a portion of the kitchen and some of the cooks.
She took a breath before asking, "So how was therapy?"
I shrugged, "It was actually kind of bland because of that whole argument with Jax. I'm not sure what they were arguing about, but it really dampened her mood."
"So they just broke out into an argument?"
I shook my head grabbing the menu, "Well no, Jax actually came in and pulled her aside."
"Wow," She responded. "I hope everything is okay."
"Yeah me too. It's awkward talking to Maliah when she looks like a red balloon of death."
She chuckles and pushes her menu aside. She hasn't even looked at it yet.
"You know what you're eating already?" I asked.
"Yeah we used to ... come here a lot so ..."
"Oh." I said catching her drift.
I open the menu and skim through the first page. Some tasty sounding appetizers and drinks. The next page is a list of sandwiches and dinners. I guess I'll keep it simple with a glass of Coke and a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich.
"We have to talk about your parents." She said.
I dropped the menu and looked at her, "What about them?"
She sighed, "More like your emotions toward them. You need to control them. You need to control them better."
"Uh, that's hard if you haven't noticed."
"I know, but if you're serious about seeing them again you need to show them that you're better and more ... more than them. You know what I mean?"
I shook my head, "N-Not really."
She scratched her chin, "Show them that you didn't need them and that you're a better woman without them. You have everything you could ever need."
"Oh," I replied. "Well yeah."
I stare at her, watching her facial expression change oddly.
I narrowed my eyes, "Are you trying to tell me something?"
She doesn't answer me right away. I hold the eye contact.
"No," She said. "I'm just preparing and I need you to too."
"You hesitated."
"Well this is a really scary situation, so yeah. I guess I did."
"Why's it scary for you?" I asked. "They're not your parents."
"Anything involving you concerns me deeply. You know this."
I smirked, "Touché."
She finally breaks into a smile. Our waitress comes over with a note pad in one hand and a thin pen in another.
