Kisses were exciting. Mitch never knew how thrilling the gentle press of two pairs of lips could be but after just one taste, he was hooked on the adrenaline.

Mitch's first kiss with Scott was everything he had dreamed it would be.  It wasn't in the ideal setting, he would have preferred if it was something they chose to do together rather than being forced to at a party but the end result was the same so he didn't complain.

A group of 7th graders sat in a misshapen circle with an empty bottle of Coke laying on its side in the middle.  No pre-teen party was complete without a game of spin the bottle where everyone would shriek every time two people were forced to peck each other on the lips.

"Your turn, Kirstie."

The petite dark haired girl leaned forward to give the bottle a spin. It spun weakly, the carpet below stopping it from moving too fast, until it stopped, pointing at a small blonde boy wearing glasses and a Pokémon t-shirt.

"You have to kiss Will!"

"Oh my god, Kirstie and Will!"

"Kirstie and Will sitting in a tree..."

Pre-teens were annoying but Mitch was happy just to be included. He wasn't the most popular boy in class due to his twiggy frame and higher than average voice. He had friends - Kirstie and Scott were the best friends he could ever ask for - but he rarely got invited to parties and such. So he took his place in the circle and participated just as enthusiastically as the rest of them.

Kirstie crawled towards Will and quickly pecked his lips before scuttling back. Both kids were left with a smile on their face and a blush on their cheeks.

Kirstie looked down at the bottle and muttered, "your turn, Scott."

Scott beamed and gave the bottle as good of a spin as he could. Mitch knew Scott would be hoping for Bianca because Scott had the biggest, most obvious crush on her but Mitch was hoping for himself. Bianca to Scott was Scott to Mitch but he couldn't be as open about it so he pined for his best friend silently and in the privacy of his own brain. It wasn't easy but he thought he was doing a good job so far because Scott had no clue and that was all that mattered.

The tiny brunette boy watched as his best friend kept his eyes locked on the pretty blonde to the right of the circle and not on the bottle in front of them. Mitch was too intently focused on Scott's profile that he hadn't even noticed the top of the bottle pointing directly at him. The snickers of the rest of the party brought his attention back to the game and his face automatically flushed.

"Scott you have to kiss Mitch!"

"Oh my god, Scott. You have to kiss a boy!"

"Can I not have another go?" Scott asked quietly.

Mitch wouldn't pretend that didn't hurt but he understood that not all boys liked the idea of kissing another boy. Bianca obviously wasn't a fan as she sat with a deep frown and her arms folded across her chest.

"No, you have to do it!"

"He obviously doesn't want to," Bianca huffed.
