What would happen if your world fell apart?
What would you do if everything you knew was gone? Just. Like. That. How would you cope?
The girl sat on a concrete step, waiting for the news. Outside of the hospital, she smokes a cigarette, a horrible habit she got from her dad.
Dad...
She told him not to go. It was pouring outside. She was safely under a metal covering and could hear the pounding of the rain on it. But the roads were bad. The sky was dark. You couldn't see 10 feet in front of you. But he said he'd be fine. It was just water after all.
No.
It was not just water.
It was thunder and lighting. And one particular strike of lighting hit a tree. And that tree fell. I'm the middle of the road.
And then her dad didn't see the tree, until it was too late.
So yeah, she was worried about the rain. She had a right to be. When she got that call, barely 30 minutes after she kissed his cheek goodbye....
Her whole world fell apart. Her stomach was in a constant feeling of falling.
What was going to happen?
Was her daddy going to die?
She finished her cigarette and started another...
She should have made him stay with her until the rain let up. This was her fault. Her responsibility. If he died...
He couldn't.
She wouldn't be able to live with herself.
No. No. No.
Stupid rain.
