Part 27

*Shennika's POV*

"I should be getting back, Bethany's leaving and I wanna set things right with her, we can't part on bad terms," I said looking out at the distance then up at Ross as we walked across the long field.

"She's leaving? What, back to England?" He put his hands into his pockets and looked at me frowning slightly. I nodded fiddling with my shorts, "yeah she's homesick, so she's leaving tonight."

"Ah that's tough...explains why you were a bit down today" he said tilting his head at me then looked out at the distance. I winced at him thinking to myself, how did he know? I thought I covered it quite well but he managed to read me anyway. Wow, he was definitely something special.

He looked back at me and searched my face with his eyes, "come on we best get you back, so you have more time with your friend before she leaves," he smiled lightly but he looked a little sad.

I nodded then we continued to walk to the car park and went over to the car. "Mum we need to take Shennika home first." Stormie looked at me then at Ross "personal reasons" he quickly said before his mum could ask questions.

"Ok... let's get you back then" she smiled getting into the car. I mouthed a 'thank you' to Ross which was returned with a smile, then we got into the car and drove onto the freeway.

We pulled up outside my house, I hugged everyone goodbye but Ross thought it was necessary to walk me to the door. My mum opened "hi guys, Ross so glad to see you're better."

He smiled "yep feeling good too" he looked at me and took a few paces back "I best get going, good luck with Bethany, I expect to see you happy tomorrow" he smiled giving me a wink.  

"Tomorrow?" I said not knowing what he meant, he bit his lip and tapped his nose at me- gesturing that it was a secret/surprise.

He gave me a wave then got into the car and they drove out the gate. I walked inside closing the door behind me.

"Well he's cute," my mum said, I snapped a look at her "MUM!" she laughed "hmm so what you reckon he has planned for you?" My mum asked as I followed her into the kitchen.

I shrugged smiling, "knowing Ross it'll be something really out there but...well thought of," I took a quick gulp of my juice and looked back at my mum pointing up "is Bethany still here?"

She nodded "yeah, I think she's upstairs, she hasn't really left her room much since you went out." I thought for moment then we looked up hearing a bang which was followed by a crash come from upstairs.

I quickly went up the stairs and into Bethany's room "what happened?" I gasped at the spilled drink and broken glass on the floor. She came from behind the door scratching behind her head "I slipped and dropped it, sorry, I'll get something to clean it up the glass" she quickly said running out the room.

"Wait isn't there tissue in your top drawer?" I shook my head realising she was out of ear shot then walked carefully across the room around the glass and looked through the drawer. Paper, stamps, pens, photos...

I picked up a handful of photos and my eyes widened- there were photos of me, her, a lot of Ross and even a few of Billy and some were ripped. I gasped the further I looked through them, pictures were glued together- I was ripped out of one and put with a ripped picture of Billy and on the other one I was cut out so it was only Bethany and Ross!

I was so confused, what did this mean? A paper dropped the moment Bethany came back, I looked at the paper then at her, her face dropped "don't um I-" I leaned down and picked up the paper- it was a cover, a rough draft of the hate letter I got from Kelli.

She walked closer to me. I looked at her still really confused "this is just like the hate letter I got, Bethany w-why is it in your drawer?!" she bit her lip hesitating at my question. "Are you working with Kelli or something?" I narrowed my eyes at her seeing how nervous she was.

My eyes watered as I grew more impatient "all this time- no, answer me this, why are you REALLY leaving?"
