Part 41

Kelli climbed over the half broken fence biting her lip. She hopped onto the pier floor and quickly got as far away from the fence as she could- trying to escape the scene but it wasn't long before a crowd gathered the area. Matt ran over to her after getting help, "where's your friend?" he said slightly out of breath.

Kelli snuck a glance down at the sea and tried not to look suspicious but she couldn't shake off the rush of guilt she felt deep down.

Conflicted, she silently cursed her conscience as she marched on. "Kelli?" she jumped seeing Rydel and Billy suddenly appear. They were standing, arms folded in front of her, "where's Shennika?" Rydel asked.
Kelli looked down at her fingers that were slightly trembling, she shoved her hands in her back pockets breathing deeply, trying to hide the truth but she couldn't hold back the tears that then exploded from her eyes.

She jumped into Billy's arms and cried holding a fistful of his tank top in a tight embrace, he cradled her and hushed her loud cry- "just tell us what happened." When no words came from her mouth, Billy exchanged looks with Rydel who rolled her eyes in response."She's your girlfriend, I don't care, all I want to know is where the hell Shennika is!"

That's right, she was Billy's girl friend now. Kelli stopped crying and laid her head on Billy's shoulder, "our kart, it crashed into the fence, and she fell, I couldn't save her...sorry." Billy jumped back grabbing hold of her shoulders and stared hard into her eyes while Rydel gasped and began pacing.

"No! she couldn't of just fallen, you've done this!" she choked out as she pushed Billy aside and grabbed hold of Kelli, "she can't of, just tell the truth!" she shouted in a raspy voice as hot tears streamed down her face.

"Rydel!" Ross yelled running over to them breathlessly, Kelli chose this moment to shove Rydel off her and stand next to Billy. "Have you seen Shen? I've looked all over but I can't find her" he panted fanning out his t-shirt trying to cool himself down- his cheeks were red and his hair was partly messy, "please tell me she's with you."

Rydel busted into tears, "I'm so sorry Ross, it's all my fault, I shouldn't of told her to get on that ride with Kelli." He slowly looked past her at the group of people that were hovering around the huge gap in the fence, he breathed deeply, "you got that right," he said turning on her coldly, staring with dark eyes that were filled with fear and anger.

"Are you blaming me Ross?" Rydel cried harder walking over to him touching his arm, he clicked his tongue and jerked away from her. She gasped pressing her hands over her nose and mouth as more tears streamed down her face.

Ross backed away from her slowly, he grabbed hold of his hair, biting his dark pink lips as he started to panic. He looked over at the people again who were still chattering about the incident. Ross pushed passed Rydel listening intensively to what Matt was saying: "yes officier, I don't know how it happened, the kart skidded off the track and-yes, yes officier there were 2 girls on it, where's the other one you say? I honestly have no idea..."

"Ross don't blame Rydel" Kelli finally spoke. Ross clenched his fists then turned around and narrowed his eyes at Kelli, who was pinching the blanket one of the officers handed her. "Oh really-you think so? yeah...maybe I'll just blame YOU!" he growled in her face making her gasp. "You just couldn't resist, you kept digging and sticking the knife in- wasn't what happened with the quad bikers enough for you!!?" she took a step back from him but he kept his watery eyes nailed on her, "you're messed up! what the hell Kelli!! you better watch that back of yours cause when I find ou-"

"Ross!" Billy shouted pulling Kelli back behind him, "haven't you heard of innocent 'til proven guilty? go on tell him Kell!" Ross breathed deeply trying to control his temper as he glared at Kelli waiting for her to speak. She nervously took a step forward, "yeah she um fell and I couldn't save her, I did try" Ross shook his head in disbelief hitting his fist on his other palm, Kelli spoke a bit louder "I did, I am sorry Ross!"
