*Ross’ POV*

“I’ll call you back!” I quickly shoved my phone into my pocket and hurried down the path to the old skate park at the bottom.

In its years, it had been tarnished and spirit burned of its remaining innocence. Thinking about it, it wasn’t exactly a place where children could feel welcomed- the place itself poisons a negative effect on the neighbourhood as well as the gangs who base there and I was approaching the scuffle now.

I’ve been walking a steady pace to my own heart beat. The pebbles beneath my converses crunched and it seemed as if the trees were closing in, becoming narrower as the path got rockier with every step that I took.

Then I reached the park gate and I knew it a mile off. I blinked twice- Billy was definitely there. Rubbing my forehead, I squinted past the play area over to the fight that was on the field. Billy was standing slightly hunched over as if he was hit in the stomach and the people around him stood in a tight group and from where I was standing I could see just how tense things were. I licked my top lip debating whether or not to go over.

“Why don’t you mind your own business!” I heard Billy shout; “This is between me and her!” his roar wasn’t nearly as strong as the gesture he threw at the brown haired girl that stood furthest away from him.

A person around the same height as Billy stepped forward, “this has everything to do with us!” the person growled then angrily shoved him to the ground.

“Stop it! Leave him alone!” the girl who was in the back called out frantically but was only nudged back by the leader.

This didn’t look good. “HEY!” I called, slamming the park gate behind me. When I was sure I had their attention I lifted my head up high, “you leave him alone! Just back off will ya!”

I hurried over catching part of the conversation between Billy and the one who wore their hood way over their eyes: “you mess with one of us; you mess with all of us that is why Billy, it has everything to do with us!”

“Well that’s funny you should say that because I’m not the one who’s messing,” Billy prompted himself up with his elbows, “if you want someone to place the blame on then why don’t you look at your home girl over there!” attention was yet again brought to the brown haired girl to the back that was being held by two other members. Billy smirked uncharacteristically, “Hmm Standards have dropped, didn’t realise you tolerate the crafty and the cunning.”

There was an inhale of breaths before the silence was corrupted by the sound of one hot slap that reddened Billy’s face in the moonlight.

“You didn’t have to do that, just let him go!” the girl that was still being held shouted, making the hooded figure that struck Billy turn to her in surprise.

“Can’t you see I’m doing this for you?” the person sounded slightly irritated.

“You don’t need to do this! I had everything under control.” This only made the hooded person huff in amusement. “Right and we know how that turned out. You let that bitch rule over you for far too long! Now look! Even Billy’s on her side, you’ve f**ked us around for far too long now, that’s it! It’s either you’re with us or against us!”

The brown haired girl tugged out of the two members hold in response. “Alright...so you’re against,” the hooded individual span around and grabbed Billy by the shirt. But before the person could hit him again I yanked down the hood.

A down pour of long, vibrate ginger hair spilled over her shoulders as her grip on Billy’s shirt slackened. Her fringe took up the whole top of her head and swooped just above her left eye; her orange waves looked finger combed and frizzy but as vibrate as her tresses were, it was her black outlined eyes that held my gaze the longest.
