I opened my eyes finding that it was morning.
What!? I bolted up and rubbed at my eyes in confusion.

"Nice necklace Shennika, when did you get it?" I darted my gaze to Shanell who was dangling Ross' necklace at me.
As soon as my eyes refocused I quickly got up and tried to take it off her but she held the necklace from my reach, "when did you get it?" she repeated looking at me firmly.

I gave up trying and sat back down on my bed with a sigh, but she just kept her look on me.
I had to tell her, she'd get it out of me anyway, I thought to myself.
"Ross he...um" I began with a mumble then sighed in frustration, looking back up at her "he gave it to me, ok? that necklace you're holding is his!"

*Shanell's POV*

"What? So you're telling me that he gave you his necklace at the concert last night?" I said narrowing my eyes at her in disbelief. I searched her face to see if she was telling the truth. But how could this be- wait a second...the other night in the car I saw her holding something shiny, could it of been this necklace?

Shennika took a step forward, "I found it in my pocket once we were already in the car" she let out another frustrated groan, holding her face in her hands. Then she continued, "he must of slipped it in my pocket when we hugged good bye" she stopped pacing and turned to face me.

"How can you be so sure it's his?" I said quietly after a moments silence. She walked back over to me, "look at the back, his name and a date's on it" she quickly said as we turned it over. And there it was:

'Ross Shor Lynch 12/29/95'

I gasped and looked up at her. This was Ross' necklace! but a question did occur to me, it was a while before I spoke "why did he give it to you?" she was standing by her window now. I watched as she touched her wind charms causing them to make a light clang noise. She shrugged "I don't know."

*Shennika's POV* (A Month later)

There was a quick knock at my door. I groaned tiredly as Shanell popped her head around it, I groaned a second time squinting at the bright hallway light that leaked through.

She had a broad smile on her face, "Today's the day!!" she sung loudly. I sat up "how come your so awake?" I said in a sleepy voice, she came in and turned my light on "that's because I never slept" she said with a wink giving my arm a nudge.

I laughed lightly as I watched her dance towards the door "aren't you gunna be tired though?" I asked pulling off my covers and followed her out of my room. "Don't worry I'll sleep on the plane" she said slightly looking back at me.

She continued dancing in the hallway and started singing: "Everyday's a dream in California, every night the stars come out to play, I wish that I could always, feel this wayyyyy, there's something about the sunshine baby, I'm seeing you in a whole new light..."

I laughed pushing her lightly, but it's still dark outside though, I joked to myself.

We packed up our gear and made sure we had everything we needed for the 3 months.
Bethany was coming with us, it took a while but her mum finally gave her permission.
Bradley's dad helped load the luggage into the truck while my mum analysed her check list. She smiled and nodded seeing that everything was pretty much ready, she asked us one last time if we had everything.

Shanell most definitely had- she was already in her seat buckled. Bethany handed her stack of luggage to Bradley's dad before running into the house greeting me with a hug.
"Soo...!" She said rubbing her hands together smiling brightly at me. I looked at her blankly not understanding what she wanted. She glanced behind checking that no one was listening in, slid her phone into the back pocket of her jeans then whispered to me: "So let's see Ross' necklace then, don't keep me waiting!"

"Ok, ok" I felt around my neck but the necklace wasn't there. I had a moment of seer panic. It must be upstairs. I ran up to my room and went over to my bed. There, on top of my book was Ross' necklace. Phew. I smiled with relief putting it on around my neck. Then grabbed my book and left my room and walked down the stairs.

"Did you find it?" Bethany looked at me concerned. But seeing my happy face turned her expression to 'relieved'.

"Yep" I nodded showing her. She beamed "Oh my God! You are so lucky!" She said touching the necklace tenderly as if it were the most fragile thing in the world. Her hand pulled back slightly, she gasped then grabbed my shoulders with both hands.

"You do know what this means, right?" I looked at her excitement with wide eyes. "Ross must really like you!" I raised an eye brow at her in disbelief. "Come on Shennika! He must like you, think about it, I don't think he'd give his necklace to just anyone."

She did have a point. Would Ross just give his personal necklace to just anyone? As an act of kindness or friendship?- especially to a girl he'd just met? Could Ross actually like me?

Butterflies formed as I felt myself blush.
