Homesick during Christmas time... (568 words)
---
"Nikita, are you feeling alright?" I frowned as he plopped down on the couch, looking down at the ground.
"Yeah, I'm grand." He chuckled in an uncomfortable manner, shifting his position as he sat down on the couch. "Why do you ask?"
"Well, honey," I turned around to face him, "you have been a little bit down for the past few weeks and I'm starting to get worried about it, Nikita."
"I guess...I don't know..." Nikita mumbled to himself, still not making eye contact with me. "I guess I've been feeling homesick for the past few weeks. Especially since Christmas is coming up in a few weeks."
Sighing in relief, I brought my hand up to his jawline and made him make eye contact with me. "Nikita, why didn't you tell me?"
"I just didn't want it to seem like I didn't like living here. Which I may add, I love living here. But, Russia's where I have lived for most of my life." Nikita shook his head, his gray-blue eyes looking into my E/C eyes. "I don't know...I just miss my family back home."
"Honey," my facial expression softened and played with his dark brown hair, trying to comfort him. "Why didn't you tell me how you felt?"
"You seemed to be busy with work and I didn't want to disturb you and add this stress-" Nikita started to hiccup as he broke down and started to sob.
"Shhh..." I whispered/shushed him, trying to get him to calm down. "It's going to be okay."
"I-I'm so sorry f-for breaking down like that..." Nikita hiccuped, slowly calming down before he stopped crying. But, the tears still flew down his cheeks.
"Don't be sorry about this, Nikita. I'm proud of you that you were honest with me," I smiled softly at him, grabbing an envelope from my handbag. With the envelope in my hand, I turned around to face the Russian with a huge grin on my face. "But, I think I might have something that might cheer you up..." Handing the envelope over to him, I watched him tear it open to find 2 tickets to Russia, specifically his hometown of Moscow.
"Oh my god! Did you do this for me, Y/N?" Nikita's eyes brightened as soon as he unveiled the tickets.
Nodding my head, I smiled back at him. "Yes, I planned for the trip to Moscow anyways. I wanted to visit the area of where my boyfriend," I pinched his cheek like an aunt would do to a child and planted a kiss on his cheek, "grew up. You have done so much for me and I wanted to thank you for so much that you have done to cheer me up."
"Я так сильно люблю тебя, Y/N." (I love you so much, Y/N.) Nikita whispered to me in his native Russian, kissing me passionately on the lips, filled with joy and emotion.
"And I love you so much, Nikita," I replied back to him in English, kissing him once again.
