Centennial celebration... (1134 words)

---

"Connor Brown passes the puck off to Jake Gardiner. Oh wait, Gardiner then passes it to Auston Matthews. Matthews shoots the puck but scores on the rebound! The Toronto Maple Leafs have won the 2017 Centennial Classic!" I shot up from my seat to celebrate along with Auston's family.

He won his first outdoor game. He has now scored 20 goals in the first 36 games of his NHL career. 2017 seems to be a good upcoming year for him.

"How about we go out for dinner tonight to celebrate the win?" Auston's mother, Ema, suggested as we exited the BMO Field, walking up to the parking lot where we promised Auston we would wait for him at.

"That sounds like a great idea, Ema. A perfect way to celebrate the win and to welcome in the new year." I nodded my head, pulling out my phone to check the time.

It was around 6-6:30, which was ideal, considering that Auston has yet to come out of the outdoor field. I had a feeling that Auston was in the midst of many interviews as he did score the overtime winning goal and was the first star of the night.

The game overall was a nail biter, from the moment The Great One dropped the puck to the goal in 3-on-3 overtime. Anthony Mantha's goal in the final second of the third period had stunned me truly and the review to go with the goal felt like time had stopped for a few minutes.

"I know a pizza place where we can go to," I looked up from my phone and smiled, "it's only about 20 minutes away. I can text you the address for a reference," I texted the address and the name of the restaurant to her before putting the phone away back into my pocket.

"I could really go for a pizza and it sounds good with us," Brian chuckled and nodded his head, "does 7:30 work for you and Auston, Y/N?"

"It works for me, Brian," I nodded my head as my response just as Auston walked up behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist.

"What are y'all talking about?" Auston inquired as he kissed my forehead.

"We were thinking about going out for pizza for dinner," Ema smiled as she gave him a hug and a kiss on his cheek.

"Mamá," Auston groaned, but a smile was evident on his face. He was a family-oriented man, he loved spending time with his family whenever he has the free time to do so. "But, I'd love to go out for pizza, sure. I'm assuming that Y/N and I will meet you there at 7:30?"

"That's what we have planned, yes." She nodded her head, hugging him once again before letting go of him and Brian had also given him a hug. Brian let go of his son and gave me a hug.

"Then it's settled, we're going out for pizza!" Auston's sister, Alexandria, smiled at her family, giving Auston and I hugs. "We'll see you later, then. I'm so proud of you, mi hermano."

"Thank you, Alexandria." He smiled, giving her a hug back. "I'll see you at the pizza place. I have to go back to my apartment and go get ready for the night."

"We'll see you later, Auston. I'm so excited for tonight, Y/N," Ema smiled at the both of us, giving us goodbye hugs and we all decided to head our separate ways. Auston's family were going back to the hotel they were currently staying at; meanwhile, Auston and I were heading back to our apartment for the next hour or so and get ready.

---

When we got back to our shared apartment, Auston headed up to the ensuite immediately to take a quick shower, probably not having a chance to take out back at the BMO Field, meanwhile I changed out of my gameday outfit and decided to wear something that was good for a night out.

Opening the closet door, the first dress that I saw was a navy and white fit and flare dress, which was just up above my knees.

Taking a few seconds to look at the dress, I nodded my head, making a decision to wear this dress; which the last time I wore was back in Buffalo during draft night.

I took the dress off the hanger and got out of my current outfit before putting the dress on me.

Closing the closet door, I walked into the ensuite to look at the mirror for guidance when it came to zipping up the dress.

"Need some help there, Y/N?" Auston stood by the doorway as if he came out of nowhere, he was fully dressed in a plaid shirt and dark jeans.

"That would be much appreciated, thanks," I sheepishly smiled at him, looking at the mirror as he walked up behind me and effortlessly pulled the zipper up to its top end. I turned around and kissed him on the lips as a thank you. Pulling away from the kiss before it got way too heated.

"You're just going to leave me hanging like that?" Auston asked in a surprised tone, his warm brown eyes widening in shock.

"We don't want your parents and sister to be waiting, do we now, Matthews?"

And just as I spoke, I heard Auston's phone go off, causing him to get it and answer the phone.

"Auston Matthews, ¿dónde estás?" (Auston Matthews, where are you?) I heard Ema on the other line, getting worried about where we were.

"Aún en el apartamento. Lo siento, mamá, pero prometo que estaremos allí en los próximos 20 minutos!" (Still at the apartment. Sorry, mom, but I promise we'll be there in the next 20 minutes!) Auston gulped in a nervous manner, staring at me as he was scared of what she had to say.

"You better be, Auston. The waiter has shown up to the table at least 3 times and we had to hold off on ordering, insisting that we wait for you and Y/N to arrive."

"Alright, we'll be on our way. Te amo mamá."

"Yo también te quiero, Auston, mi hijo."

The call got hung up and Auston looked at me, but I already knew what he was going to say.

"Yeah, we should probably head out." I nodded my head, slipping on my heels and sprinted out of the room, heading to the car.

"Wait for me, Y/N! I'm coming, I'm coming!" Auston sprinted behind me, slipping on his dress shoes and followed me to the car.
