"Wait, you're in what?" (995 words)

---

"Ok, don't freak out..." Y/N groaned in pain as she looked at her best friend, B/F/N. "But, I think the baby wants to come right now."

B/F/N looked up to Y/N with a look of shock on her face and immediately set the slice of pizza she had in her hands down on the plate. "Your due date isn't for another 2 weeks!"

"Ok, not helping right now, B/F/N." Y/N rubbed her back and tried to alleviate the pain.

"How long have you been having contractions for?" B/F/N sprinted to the front door and grabbed their pairs of shoes before rushing back to the living room, where Y/N was.

"I don't know," Y/N shrugged her shoulders, "for the past hour or so?"

"Why didn't you tell me?" B/F/N started to 'minorly' freak out but quickly rebutted Y/N before she opened her mouth. "I'm not freaking out!"

"Relax, I wasn't going to say anything about you freaking out!" Y/N rolled her hands, but she got her phone out of her pocket, "I was going to suggest calling Josh."

B/F/N simmered down and relaxed before nodding her head and dashed to the door, "I'm going to go turn the car on while you let him know. I'll be back in a few!"

Y/N nodded her head as she dialed her husband's number and pressed her phone against her ear. "Come on, Josh... Pick up the phone!"

"Hello?" A familiar voice spoke up on the other line, which made Y/N relieved instantly.

"Oh, you finally picked up." Y/N said in a strained voice as another contraction occurred, shooting pain throughout her lower back. "Listen, I'm kind of in a little situation right now."

"Is it what I'm thinking it is?" Josh immediately started to worry and dropped his phone; which, she heard. He picked it back up and quietly cursed to himself before getting back to her. "I'll be on the first plane to Columbus."

"What about the playoff game tomorrow night?" Y/N questioned him as he started to pack his things up.

"I'm not going to play tomorrow night," Josh answered her question. "My family is the most important thing to me and then, I'll worry about hockey."

"Ok, I'm going to go to the hospital right now," Y/N looked up from the floor to find B/F/N standing outside and waving at her. "I'll see you there?"

"You can count on it, sweetheart. I'll be there in 3 hours," Josh reassured her before he spoke up for the last time. "I love you."

"I love you too," Y/N smiled to herself before she said her goodbyes and hung up the call. B/F/N came back inside and helped Y/N get in the car, forgetting to grab the baby bag, which was upstairs...

---

"Oh, thank god, you're finally here!" B/F/N sighed in relief as she saw Josh strolling down the hallway in a panicked mood. "Where were you?"

"Traffic was a bit busy on the way over here," Josh panted as he tried to catch his breath.

"Well, she's almost ready to give birth," B/F/N nudged him on the shoulder and opened the door for him, "and I think she'll be glad you're there for her."

Josh smiled at her and gave her a hug before he entered the room.

"You're here!" Y/N sighed in relief as he walked across the room to be by her side. "What took you so long?"

"Traffic was holding me back." Josh shook his head and kissed her on the forehead, "how are you holding up, sweetheart?"

"Everything hurts," Y/N groaned in pain, which made Josh frown. "But, I'm glad you're finally here."

"I wouldn't miss it for the world," he gently smiled down at her and grabbed her small hand in his larger one. "I love you."

"I love you too, Josh." She smiled back at him before she felt another contraction and squeezed his hand a bit too tight...

"Ok, ow, ow, ow." Josh started to squat down in pain as she forcefully squeezed it, but he shook it off because all he wanted to do was to make Y/N comfortable and happy. "But, it's not that big of a deal and I can get over it."

---

"You did it, sweetheart," Josh smiled from ear-to-ear at his wife as the nurses took their newborn daughter to the cleaning station and got her cleaned and dressed up. "I'm so proud of you."

"I couldn't have done it without you, honey." She chuckled raspily, her voice almost giving out due to screaming for a long amount of time.

The nurse came back to Y/N and Josh with their baby in her arms, "would Mom like to hold her first or would Dad like to hold her first?"

"My husband would be happy to hold her first," Y/N smiled up at him and kissed him on the cheek. The nurse gently transferred the baby from her arms and into Josh's arms and helped him with holding her before she left them in peace.

"Hey, there," Josh started to tear up as he looked down at the baby in his arms. "I'm your dad. You are so beautiful yet tiny, I'm afraid to hurt you. You look a lot like Mom," he looked at his sleeping wife and smiled in content. Looking down at his daughter, he saw her starting to fall asleep. He quietly walked over to the bassinet and gently put her down for sleep before walking back over to the chair near the bed.

"Wait," he whispered to himself quietly as he observed the room, "where's the hospital bag?"

And I'm back at it again with another Blue Jacket update! I had no school today (due to ACT testing) and I took the opportunity to update with another imagine. But now, I shall go do my homework, which is probably a good idea to do. Hope you enjoyed the imagine; have a GREAT rest of your day/night, and I'll see you later! Bye!
