Freddy is stuck in the house with the flu... (1035 words)

---

Sounds of heaving and puking had disturbed Y/N's sleep for the past few hours ever since her husband, Frederik, was seemingly ill. She opened her eyes and tried to wake herself up, not sure what time of the day it was. Looking over at the clock, she realized it was 9:10 in the morning and he hasn't been in bed for the past hour or so.

Getting out of the warm and stress-relieving bed, she made her way towards the en-suite to find him sitting down on the floor with his back leaning against the wall.

"Freddy, are you alright?" Y/N frowned, helping him up from the floor and led him over to the sink. He shook his head, his face was sweaty and he was warm to touch. She handed him his toothbrush and toothpaste before walking out the room and waited for him outside.

Y/N's eyes started to droop slowly, however, she was once woken up again by the door opening and closing. Her body was alert once more and she was fully awake, knowing what was going on.

"I definitely am not going to practice today..." Frederik groaned, walking up to his side of the bed and started to lay down. "...And that also means that I'm missing the game tonight." He was holding his throat by the end of the sentence and tried to swallow away the pain, but he had difficulty due to the pain. Y/N grabbed her phone from the bedside table on her side of the bed and dialed a number, to be more precise, one of the teammates and a good friend of Freddy. Who, by the way, was Auston Matthews. And little did she know, he was also sick with what Frederik had caught, both of who had caught it from Connor Brown.

"Hello?" Auston answered the call with a hoarse voice and Y/N let out a sigh of relief. "Y/N, is that you?"

"Yeah, it's me, Auston." She nodded her head, even though he couldn't see it. "I was calling to tell you that Freddy's isn't going to be available for today's practice nor tonight's game."

"Yeah, bad news, I'm not at practice either." Auston coughed into the microphone and later let out a sneeze. "I think Freddy and I both got sick with the flu, Y/N."

"Who else also has it, Aus?" She whispered as soon as she saw Frederik's eyes close and he was currently back to sleep.

"It's just me, Freddy, and Connor who have the flu. But, I think it was Connor who passed it onto us." He once again let out a deep and throaty cough before speaking up once again, "I'm going to have to go, my throat's hurting real bad and I feel fatigued. I hope you and Freddy are doing alright, I'll text him later and see how he's doing."

"You better get off the phone before you lose your voice entirely, Matthews. You don't want for it to worsen more." She let out a hearty and quiet laugh before saying her goodbyes and hung up the phone call. Remembering that she still had yet to let his team know that he wasn't feeling well enough to play for today, she sent out a text to Morgan, another teammate of Freddy's. Almost instantly, he replied back to Y/N's text, stating that he'll let the coaching staff know about his status and 'get well soon' greetings too.

"Freddy, honey, wake up." She kneeled down on the floor, being eye level with his sleeping body. Gently shaking his body to get him to wake up, she saw his eyes slowly to start to open. He was feeling a bit better, but he was still not a hundred percent and was in no shape to leave the house. "I made some of your favorite soup for you," she pointed towards the steaming hot bowl of soup that was on his bedside table. "How are you feeling right now?"

"I feel a little bit better, but I don't want to leave the house for a little while. At least, until I start to feel better." He replied, his voice being similarly hoarse to Auston's voice. He sat up from his laying position, his back leaning against the headboard and he took the tray which had the now-warm bowl of soup on. "What time is it right now?"

"It's quarter to one." She replied to his question, standing up from her kneeling position and sprinted to the door to grab the bag of sick day essentials. "And whilst you were out like a light, I got you a box of fruit juice popsicles, just in case you couldn't stomach down the soup; a liter bottle of ginger ale for the stomachache you might have right now; 2 bags of mint cough drops for your sore throat; and your prescription for Tamiflu that I had got from the doctor after speaking with them. Speaking of which, I got you an appointment for tomorrow morning. And I also got some of the same things for Auston, as he is also ill with the flu."

He was in the middle of eating of the bowl of soup as Y/N was going through the items that she purchased for him. But all that mattered to him was how much he was in love with his beautiful and caring wife.

"After all, we have promised to be there for each other in sickness and in health." Her face contorted into a smile, kissing her husband on the forehead.

"I appreciate everything you do for me and I can't thank you enough for it. I love you so much, Y/N." He kissed her back on her cheek.

"And I love you, Frederik. But first," she laughed in a soft tone, "finish eating your soup and then maybe I'll give you some cuddles."
