"Do you smell something burning?" (470 words)
---
Y/N woke up to the smell of chocolate chip pancakes cooking, which she thought was weird. She turned around to face her boyfriend, only to find he wasn't in bed. The lightbulb clicked in her mind; in fact, it was Dylan who was cooking breakfast that morning.
Dylan wasn't exactly what you might call an Iron Chef. He was, rather, an adequate cook who knew the basic recipes. Dylan cooking them a meal was a rare treat for Y/N, due to him having a hectic work schedule.
Once Y/N fully got herself out of bed and got prepped for the day while she was in the en-suite; she rushed downstairs to the kitchen and found her boyfriend standing in front of the stove.
"What's cooking for breakfast, honey?" Y/N smirked and crossed her arms, which startled Dylan and he lost his focus.
"God, don't scare me like that!" Dylan yelled as he waved the spatula as a defense technique, "take anything you want! I'm only decent at cooking and the chances of getting food poisoning are lower."
"Oh, yeah! I remember the time you gave Connor food poisoning," Y/N grimaced at the flashback and shook her head in disgust. "Well, your cooking has been better since then."
"That was last year, Y/N," he looked at her with no expression on his face, which is his signature look. "Do you want the giant stack of pancakes or shall I eat it all by myself?"
"Oh, you are so mean!" Y/N gasped in fake sadness, "you don't dare take food away from me!"
Dylan had a devilish smirk on his face, as he came up to her and started pressing kisses across her face, which felt ticklish to her.
"Dylan! Honey, st-o-p!" Y/N screeched as she burst into a giggle fit and tried to run away from him. "Oh, I'm actually going to hurt my throat if I continue to laugh like this."
Dylan eventually stopped his childish antics and they both calmed down from the laughter attack. They stood in silence, just taking in the moment between them. Although, the cute moment between ceased as soon as Y/N started to smell smoke.
"Oh, Dylan," she tapped his broad shoulder, making him look at her. "The pancakes are burning."
"What?" Dylan was a tad confused at first, but the smell of smoke later came to him. "Oh, great! Well, breakfast is now ruined..."
"It's not ruined! I'll help you make more batter."
"I love you so much."
"I love you too, raccoon boy."
