Cassie looked out of the window in her high tower. Maybe it was a good idea to just jump out of it. How has the king put it? She would grow wings and fly away. Just be free. Free in death.

But even in this misery Cassie wanted to live. She had come too far to just die by her own will. And she was afraid of what would happen to girls like her after death.

So she would continue the wheel of pain now that Elijah was gone. He took her heart with him. But has she kept his heart? She doubted it. He was such a noble man, wise, open-minded. And of course so dangerously handsome. Every woman would kiss his feet just to be with that kind of man.

The thought of not seeing him again hit her hard. He left nothing behind, it was just the memories of the nights they spend together.

Cassie trailed to her bed. She caressed the silken sheets and then cuddled under them. She felt lonely. The feeling was like the first day she arrived here when she realized that she lost her family, her carefree life.

But suddenly she heart a thud from near the window and the voice she missed so much in the last few days sounded in the small room.

„Come, mylady, we don't have much time."

Her eyes widened in surprise but instantly she sped to him.

„You came back for me..."

„I will always come back for you."

His smile was so warm, her heart melted.

Their moment was broken when the guards outside her door became suspicious.

Elijah grabbed Cassie's waist before they could open the door. He climbed the window ledge after she wrapped her skinny legs around him. You could see the fear in her eyes when she looked down the tower.

The blue of the sea didn't look peaceful anymore. It seemed like a big hard grave. Cassie knew that it would feel like hitting stones when they would jump into it.

„Do you trust me?"

He looked down to her. Cassie could see the confidence in his eyes. It was like he would to something like that every day. She would never doubt him and then she nodded.

Elijah grabbed her tighter and jumped before Cassie could think anymore. It was so quick that she couldn't keep the blue of the sky and the sea apart. And then everything went black.

...

England's spring was Cassies favorite season. She hadn't seen it since her childhood. It was like nature created thousand of new colors since then. Even the sounds changed. The birds chirping in the trees were sounding so sweet, she could listen to them forever.

The wind tugged on the crown of daises in her hair and her dress. She felt fingers stroking a loose streak behind her ear. The touch left a tingling feeling on her skin and she closed her eyes in pleasure.

„Have I already told you that you are even more beautiful when there's a smile on your face?"

Cassie chuckled on Elijah's words.

„Nah, it's just the absence of the sun. Tanned skin makes me look old."

They both laughed.

That's the place where Cassie had always belonged. Right here on this huge meadow, in the arms of the man she loved. Surrounded by nature. In the far you could see the old but beautiful castle they stayed in.

It was a long way to happiness. The journey back to England was gruesome. Because of their rushed departure nothing was prepared. Cassie learned the truth about the Mikaelson's when Klaus attacked her out of a raging hunger and nearly killed her. She wasn't surprised anymore. Elijah explained every detail of his lifetime story to her but it didn't change her feelings for him. She met so much cruelty in her life that she didn't care if there was something even more darker.

But still she had to learn the disadvantages of his immortal life...

She grabbed Elijah's hand and placed it on her flat stomach.

„What do you think? Maybe I'm already pregnant...I mean...we...try very often. I know it's early but I would love to carry your child."

His face hardened and his eyes turned sad and absent. He took his hand away from me.

„What is it?"

Cassie thought of herself as an idiot. How could she drag him to this? Maybe he didn't not want children.

„I can't give you children, Cassie. It's part of my eternal curse."

Something broke inside Cassie but she didn't show it. She wrapped her arms around Elijahs and snuggled her head to his chest, comfortably stroking his hair.

„I...I could understand that you want a man that could give you a child...I'm..."

She put her index finger on his mouth.

„Elijah, I don't care. As long as you stay by my side I don't wish for anything else."

His face grew soft again. He was again surprised by her. He realized how much he loved that woman. And she loved him in return.

„Cassandra?"

She looked at him wondering. He didn't call her by her full name often.

„Marry me."
