„I've never seen such an easy divorce...I mean...no screaming, no bickering. No money-issues...they are both rich enough to buy New Orleans. They share the custody for their son. I wish it would be always like that."

The lawyers whispered to each other.

Cassie chuckled lightly and looked lovingly at Elijah. He grabbed her hand and played with her fingers.

The eyes of the humans next to them widened. That seemed more like a happily in love couple, rather than two people in divorce.

„Are you sure you want to do this? I mean, I could just buy a new ring for you and everything would stay the same."

She squeezed his hand.

„We need a start over. We have to leave the past behind and look into a great future to come. Our wedding was a part of all the torture that came upon us. It symbolizes our misfortune, our failure. I don't want that anymore."

They looked at each other for some time in silence, before Elijah motioned for the lawyers.

„Give me the papers and a pen."

One of the suited men wanted to explain the clauses, but before he could open his mouth Elijah signed the papers without breaking the eye contact to Cassie. With a smile, he handed her everything.

Cassie also signed at the line at the bottom. It was like a weight lifted of her shoulders. This was the starting point of a more lucky future. Their child was the last piece of the puzzle to fulfill all their wishes. They had everything they wanted and would never let it go.

She couldn't keep herself back and leaned over the desk to kiss her now ex-husband. Elijah laughed quietly, seeing from the corner of eye that the lawyers were giving each other awkward looks and coughed to get their attention back.

„Um, Ms. Grey, Mr. Mikaelson, if you need any help in legal matters, just call me. But I need to excuse myself now."

Both of the men nodded a goodbye to the couple and left. Cassie and Elijah couldn't hold a laugh back.

„Have you seen their faces? They must consider us crazy."

„Oh, they might. But they got a pretty good fee from the crazy people. Let's go, shall we?"

Elijah grabbed her hand again and led her out of the building. When they were outside again, Cassie pulled him into a more quiet alley and pressed him against a wall to kiss him passionately.

„I love you so much, dearest ex-husband."

„I love you, too, my lovely ex-wife."

He pulled away from the kiss breathless after a while.

„It's already late...I mean...Hayley and my sister a looking after Daniel, so I think we can celebrate our divorce with a dinner."

„What an awesome idea. I could use some really good champaign."

They gave each other a smile and went into their favorite restaurant. The place were they had their first kiss after their time apart. Elijah chose it as a symbol for their great future.

The restaurant was crowed with happy people. They fitted in perfectly. An atmosphere of carefreeness was build, a live band played wonderful jazz music.

Elijah couldn't keep his eyes off Cassie. Their child opened the door to another side of her, she was an awesomely good mother, even though he knew she spoil their son. She would do everything to make Daniel happy. It was like she shone with light from the inside, making her even more beautiful.

But the Original changed, too. Finally he could be a father. This new task fulfilled him with joy. He wanted to raise his son into a decent man and give him the happy childhood he deserved.

Suddenly, Elijah stood up, fiddling something out of the jacket of his suit. Cassie looked up at him in question, raising her eyebrows.

„What are you doing?"

His intention became clear when he knelt down in front of her. Her eyes widened in shock.

The eyes of all the people in the restaurant were on them and the music stopped playing when they realized that there was a proposal ongoing. Not that Cassie and Elijah see that. For them, the whole world stood still. They could just see each other.

„My lovely Cassandra, do you want to become my wife again?"

In his hand was a small box, keeping a beautiful, slim golden ring. Diamonds reflected the light of the room.

Cassie needed a moment before she could answer and it was like everyone held their breaths.

„Yes! Yes, of course I want to."

Tears ran over her cheeks when Elijah pulled her into an embrace and lifted her off the ground. he whispered devotions of love into her ear and stroked her hair, before he was able to let her down again and place the ring he bought onto her finger.

It was a night of deep love for them, a night that meant everything for them. Some time ago none of them thought that they would find their way back to each other but in this case, love won over the things that kept them apart.

Maybe we can call this a happy end, but for Cassie and Elijah the term „end" was not relative. They would live forever, but they swore to themselves, that they would spend eternity together.

Always & Forever.

..................................................

But I just know one thing...

...I will miss these two.

Wow...I finished a book. I somehow can't believe it. And honestly, I don't know what to say. Right now, my head is just empty and I don't know whether to be sad or happy.

Guys, thank you, for being here. Thank you for giving this book a chance. I would like to hug you all, but I can't do that personally. So, just feel virtually hugged!

Alright, how will I go on? First of all, I will take a little break and be a bit sad about leaving Cassie and Elijah behind. But as you maybe saw, I have two other books going own. I will continue them. In "I'm a Queen" (my Kol Mikaelson story) there may be some Cassie/Elijah cameos. And of course my exam weeks start tomorrow, so I'll be quite busy.

But again, thank you so much for reading this.

Love you all,

Nanuri
