The memories flooded Cassie's mind. It overwhelmed her, so she had grab back of the armchair to stabilize herself. She heard voices in her head, her own and Elijah's. There were peaceful, lucky memories with him and declarations of love that made her heart melt. But the clearest feeling was a sharp pain. Again she lived through the times when he left her alone. When she thought she couldn't bear living an eternity.

„Cassie..."

Elijah tried to wrap an arm around her, worried that she would fall. She looked terrible. Her face was pale, tears swam in her eyes. It what obvious that what she saw destroyed her.

„No! Don't touch me!"

Suddenly, the energy came back to her and Cassie snapped at him. She couldn't let him touch her, it would torment her even more. There was so much anger, sadness and hurt feelings in her, but on the other side she couldn't hide, that her love for him also came back.

„I'm so sorry...I...I don't know what I can do."

Cassie laughed bitterly. Noble Elijah didn't know what to do, that's rare.

„Please, just leave me alone. I don't want to see anyone right now."

The Original hesitated because he wanted to give her comfort and help her through the pain. But he knew he wasn't the right person for that right now. He would ask Hayley to check up on her. Before he went out, he lightly touched her back, feeling the urge to touch her forehead with his lips like he always did when they parted for the day, but he held it back.

When Cassie heard the door closing behind Elijah, she kicked off her shoes and laid down on her bed, letting the tears flow. She never cried, but this time she just had to. Why was she treated like this? Like a doll that could be tossed around, that would dance for them the way they wanted to.

She felt dirty and used, like the whore she was back when she was a human in the Orient. Every evening she sat in her room and cried her eyes out because she was so ashamed of herself. Ashamed of the fact that she had to give her body away for men that desired her.

Until the day she laid eyes on Elijah.

„There's just one that's quite stubborn...Cassie, come in!"

Cassie looked at the ground when she entered the room. She knew what was waiting for her. Probably new, wealthy, ugly men that wanted nothing more than her body. In the kingdom she was quite famous for her European beauty. Even though she would never use her art of seduction towards one of these brutal bastards, they all wanted to taste something from the strange world across the ocean.

She first looked at her king and stood next to him. With lustful eyes, he examined her barely covered curves. After that he motioned to look at his guests.

That was the moment were everything begun. She met the eyes of the man that was her savior, but at the same time the one that hurt her the most. His chocolate eyes consumed her, it was like she could see every inch of his tormented soul. Instantly she felt attracted to him. He had handsome features, broad shoulders and seemed tall even in a sitting position. But what stroke her was the kindness in his eyes. She instinctively felt safe near him. Like he would always protect her, whatever it meant.

This was the beginning of an eternal love, but no one of them knew at that point what it would take off them. They will be consumed by love, but also fall into deep depression because of it.
