They greeted the brothers like old friends. Poor things, they didn't even had a clue about what they invited into their home.

The streets of the capital were full of life. There were markets at every crossroad with tons of vegetables, fruits, spices and crafts. Children were playing outside their houses.

Smells and sounds hit Elijahs heightened senses. But it didn't bother him, in contrary, he liked it.

It differed from his expectations. The people seemed happy. He didn't saw that often.

The man that guided them seemed to see Elijahs confusion.

„It's different here than in Europe. Our king shares his wealth. The only thing he wants in return is hard work."

Elijah nodded. The thought inspired him. Good, honest work, payed well. Could the supposedly modern states of Europe and America reach this goal? Likely not.

The simple, flat houses disappeared and the streets led into a huge place. There was a magnificent palace in the middle of it. The building was made of marble, the golden decoration created a piece of art.

Niklaus eyed the palace in awe. His brother knew how much he adored every kind of art.

Even the inside of the palace was an expression of wealth. Elijah could hear a piano playing from farer away.

„My lords, did you like the little stroll through my city?"

The amused voice of a man with black hair took the vampires attention. He seemed self confident and was dressed and the palace's colors: white and gold. His rich jewelry was also fitting.

He must be the king.

Elijah talked before Klaus could.

„Yes, it was quite pleasant after the long journey. We admire your city, your Grace."

„It differs from your beloved Britain, doesn't it?"

The king laughed out loud and gestured to a door.

„We should go and drink a cup of tea, shall we?"

The brothers shared a gaze and followed the charismatic person.

...

Together they entered a smaller room. There were pillows to sit on on the floor and a table was filled with cups of tea, bread and other exotic delicacies.

But the six brunette, oriental female beauties were the real eye catcher. In their see-through dresses they lied down beside their king and giggled.

Elijah saw Niklaus grinning from the corner of his eye. He rolled his eyes before the men sat themselves on the pillows.

„I don't call them whores, I call them my mistresses. There are no slaves in my country. Every man gets payed for his work."

He kissed the hand of one of the women.

„And which one is your queen?"

Niklaus asked and took a sip of tea. There was lust in his gaze. That meant danger.

The king laughed about the blunt question.

„None, my friend. I'm honest. Why should I officially pretend to love one woman while I can actually have hundreds?"

The younger brother nodded in agreement.

„There's just one that's quite stubborn...Cassie, come in!"

He yelled.

When she entered Elijah froze in motion. His breath stopped for a second.

Calling her a beauty was an understatement.

Her hair fell down her back in golden waves. She wore the same thin fabric as the other mistresses. But she seemed uncomfortable to be that exposed. Elijah couldn't help himself and admired her exquisite pale curves that were visible for his eyes.

Then their eyes met. She kept his gaze in hers when she kneeled beside her lover.

Her sapphire-colored eyes were filled with fear. But Elijah saw that this pretty face was just tormented with bitterness when she was near her master.

It was likely that she was actually a cheerful person that smiled a lot. He could even see mischief in her eyes.

The slightly raised voice of the king ripped Elijah from their moment.

„She is a true beauty, isn't she?"

Hell yes, she is.

Elijah cursed himself in his thoughts.
