"I can't believe we're moving to Hawkins." I stated with attitude."Sweetie, I have to go wherever my job needs me to be. And all the fuss is over. Hawkins is safe." My father replied. He's a cop. Apparently, a few cops left the force after all that crazy stuff happened.
I don't care what he says. I do not feel safe living in Hawkins.

We pulled into the driveway of our new house.
"Welcome home." My mom said, turning to face me in the back seat.
"This isn't home." I protested.
"You'll get used to it. Everything will be fine, honey." She encouraged.
"Whatever you say." I rolled my eyes and got out of the car.
My parents began unloading the trunk. Most of our stuff was already delivered to the new house, but we had a few extra belongings with us.
I paced up the drive way, getting a feel for the new area. To the left of our house was a larger house, and to the right was the woods. That freaked me out. There were woods behind our backyard too. This was way too creepy. I'll never feel at home here.
I stared into the woods, and suddenly heard something rustling through the bushes and leaves. I knew this place wasn't safe! The monster is back! I gasped with terror and out came a deer. I sighed, relieved.
"You'll get used to the deer running around here." I heard an unfamiliar male voice behind me.
I turned quickly and saw a tall boy with thick, light brown hair.
"Hi, I'm Steve Harrington." He put out his hand for me to shake. "I live next door."
"Hey, I'm Kristen." I shook his hand and smiled, hesitantly.
"Where'd you move from?"
"Just a few towns over; it wasn't a big move. My dad's a cop and got transferred over here." I explained.
"Well, welcome to Hawkins!" He smiled.
"Thanks." I returned the smile, which quickly faded as I glanced back towards the woods.
"Really, don't be afraid. Nothing has gone on since...you know. Do you know?"
"Yeah, I heard about what happened here. That's why I was so against moving."
"Now you have me as a neighbor. I'll protect you." He assured me.
"Thank you. That's really sweet."
"Well that's me; a real sweetie." He flashed a cocky smile. "I should go. I'm meeting up with a few friends later. Just one piece of advice; don't go wandering through the woods by yourself." He sounded pretty serious, which frightened me. The woods really must be dangerous. "No exploring Hawkins without me. Got it?" His tone changed and sounded more playful.
"Got it." I agreed.
"Cool, I'll see you later." He backed up, winked and turned on his heels to leave.
I guess living here won't be too bad, since I got this cutie living next door...
