Steve and I entered the school through the main doors, drenched from the pouring rain. A storm had come suddenly, interrupting a beautiful sunny day.

We peered around. No one was there. It was currently passing time, when everyone would be in the halls. But the halls were empty...

"It's like a ghost town." I spoke.

Steve began walking forward. I followed. "Where is everyone?" I asked.

He didn't answer.

"Steve..."

His back was turned to me as I tried to keep up with his pace.

"Steve!"

He turned quickly and shushed me.

I whispered, "What? What's wrong?"

We turned an abrupt corner and there lay a student, blood stained on his clothes. His face was full of panic, but he was dead.

I gasped and Steve placed a tight grip on my waste. We heard a faint screech coming from a different area in the school. It didn't sound human.

"We're not alone, Blondie." He admitted.

Fear engulfed my whole body and I felt frozen.

"We need to go." He whispered. He turned away, waiting for me to follow. But I couldn't. I was in horror. This had to be some kind of nightmare.

"Kristen, come on." He flicked his head in the direction of the exit door.

I took a breath. "I can't."

He placed a hand on each of my shoulders. "Listen to me," he spoke softly, "I need you to trust me. We need to get out of here while we have a chance."

I nodded. He held my hand and we began to speed walk cautiously down the hall.

A screech was heard again, but this one sounded closer. We began running to escape. The screech was made again and we continued running, picking up our speed. It sounded as if it were right behind us.

Steve pushed open the door and we continued running back to his car, still hand in hand. My heart raced and I felt that I was running for my life, which I truly was.

Quickly, he opened the passenger seat door and allowed me to jump in. Then he ran to the drivers side, opened the door, then stopped and slammed it shut before getting in.

"Steve! Get in!" I screamed. He ran behind the car and opened the trunk. I tried to catch my breath, but I worried about him still being out there.

He slammed shut the trunk and finally got into the car. He held a baseball bat with nails sticking out at one end.

"What on Earth

"What on Earth..." I was confused to why he had that.

"I'll explain later..." He went to put the key in the ignition, only to realize he didn't have the key in his hand. "Shit..."

A bang on top of the car made us jump. The roof creaked eerily. We both froze, knowing there was nowhere for us to go. The rest of the world was silent. All I could hear was the faint creaks of the roof, the only thing separating us from this...monster.

I tried to take deep breaths, but that only resulted in nearly hyperventilating. Steve continuously looked around, trying to get an idea.

He looked at me and whispered, "The keys are right next to my door, I only need to crack it open a smidge."

I knew that was our only hope. There was no other option.

Carefully, he pulled on the door handle and barely pushed open the door. He reached down for the key. He picked it up and slowly began to raise his body up.

Suddenly, he was snatched out of the car and thrown onto the pavement. That's when I saw it. The monster.

"Steve!" I screamed.

The monster had him pinned to the ground. It's face opened up, releasing the screeching sound we'd heard before.

I had to do something.

I grabbed the baseball bat and threw open my door. I ran to the opposite side of the car and stood with the monsters back faced toward me. I took a deep breath and forcefully hit the monster, knocking it off of Steve.

It jumped towards me and screeched. I backed up, but it continued to walk closer slowly, as if it were stalking prey. My eyes were focused on this thing. This couldn't be real. This stuff only happens on tv, not in real life. My life was in danger. Steve rose from the ground, and pulled the bat out of my hand. He pushed me behind him.

He held up the bat. "The keys are in my pocket. I want you to run and get in the car." He said.

I did as he told me and reached into his pocket and took the keys. I backed up and then darted to the car. I didn't look back.

"Kristen!" I turned back to look. The monster was right on my heels and tackled me. I fell to the ground. Steve ran and swung.

Everything went black.

That's the last thing I remember.
