"What? What are you talking about?" Steve questioned, evidently confused.

"The demogorgans went after you and I stopped them." I reminisced.

"How?"

I hesitated, thinking of the threatened consequences of telling him. "You're going to think I'm crazy." I began.

"Trust me, I'd believe anything after what's gone on here the past year." He insisted.

"I have...abilities that normal people don't. I never used them before that day. I don't even know how I did it. I just felt so scared and I needed to protect you. I felt powerful."

He listened intently.

"I was born in the Upside Down as part of a lab experiment. That's why I have these abilities." I whispered.

Steve didn't know how to respond. If I were him, I wouldn't either.

"Crazy, right?"

He nodded. "Yeah, I, uh, wasn't expecting that." He backed away from me. Oh no, I scared him. He's afraid of me.

"Steve, wait, you can trust me."

"You're a part of the Upside Down, Kristen. What does that mean?"

"It doesn't mean I'm bad! I just told you I saved you!"

"This is insane. This is crazy!" His voice grew louder.

"Steve, shhh, you need to keep your voice down. Do you know what could happen if anyone knows I told you?"

"I don't think I want to."

He backed up closer to my window.

"Please, Steve. I'd never hurt you or use my powers against you. I promise." My eyes began to water.

He still looked terrified and shocked

He still looked terrified and shocked. "This is just crazy. It's crazy. You're like, not even human!" He exclaimed.

I sniffled and cried. The lights began to flicker as my emotions ran high. The more upset I got, the more intense the flickering became.

Alarmed, he climbed onto the roof from my window and down the tree

Alarmed, he climbed onto the roof from my window and down the tree.

"Wait! Steve!" I called out.

He ran home and I lost sight of him. I wasn't expecting that reaction. I trusted him. I thought he'd thank me. I didn't think he'd run away and make me feel like such a weirdo.
