I frantically knocked on Steve's front door. At last, he opened up.

"Kristen, are you okay?" He asked, concerned. I attempted to catch my breath. He gently grasped my arm and pulled me into his house. "What's wrong?"

He was acting normal. "You aren't afraid of me?" I questioned.

"What are you talking about? Why would I be afraid of you?" He had no idea.

"Last night?"

He shot me a confused look. "Babe, are you sure you're alright?" He placed his hand on my head as if he were checking for a fever.

"You don't remember." I said in amazement. "Steve, what do you remember about last night?"

"We hung out in your room and you had to study, so I left."

My jaw dropped. He seriously had no memory of what I told him.

He walked into his kitchen and I followed. I sat on a stool at the island. Steve grabbed an apple from the fruit bowl and leaned his elbows on the island, taking a bite of the apple. "I did have a dream with you last night though." He spoke with his mouth full.

"Did you?" I asked. "Tell me about it."

"You said you had powers." He acted as if it were crazy, which it is, but I mean that he truly believed that that was false.

"How would you feel if I did have powers?" I nonchalantly mentioned.

"I'd be jealous. Doesn't everyone want superpowers?" He responded with no hesitation.

I sighed, relieved. "You wouldn't be afraid of me?"

"No, of course not. Why do you ask?"

Instead of telling him, I figured I'd show him. I focused on the bowl of fruit that sat at the opposite end of the island. He watched in awe as I slid it in between us without touching it.

"No way." He stated, amazed by my trick. "That's incredible."

I smiled contently. He didn't fear me. I didn't lose him. We were okay.
