Will was still being engulfed by the black smoke cloud. We all watched and cried. This thing would not release him.
"I can stop it." El spoke, determined. She held her hands and used her powers. The smoke blew a little, but it wasn't enough. She held out her hand to Mike. He grabbed it. "Try." She ordered.
Nancy watched, confused, as her brother stood with El, hand in hand, using powers against this monster. We all watched in awe.
"The lab..." Lucas began.
"Gave him powers." Dustin finished his sentence.
Still, it wasn't enough.
I unraveled Steve's arms from my body and stepped over to the children. I grabbed El's other hand and we all tried together as hard as we could.
We screamed, forcing all of our powers to work against this smoke. Finally, the smoke began to loosen its hold on Will. We didn't stop. We kept fighting it until it lingered away and blew out the window.
Will fell to the ground, unconscious. Nancy and Jonathan rushed to his side.
El, Mike, and I wiped the blood from our noses and stood weakly. Our energy was drained. I've never felt so physically exhausted. Steve came to my side and hugged me. Tears rolled down my cheeks. I can't believe we did it. We fought this thing.
